Founded in 1929 by several winegrowing families, its history is resolutely distinctive, illustrating the ambition and dynamism that has always reigned in the Champagne region. Today, Maison Mailly continues to shine thanks to its splendid cuvées that combine finesse and elegance.
What is the history of Maison de Champagne Mailly?
When the Great Depression hit France in 1929, a total of 25 winegrowing families decided to face up to it by joining forces. They founded the Société de Producteurs de Mailly Champagne and chose to make Champagne wines using only grapes from their village classified as Grand Cru, with the aim of glorifying this terroir already considered exceptional at the time. Brought together by these difficult beginnings, the winemakers succeeded in making their Champagne known throughout France, and from the 1960s onwards, the commercial expansion of Maison Mailly became a great success.
What is the terroir of Maison Mailly?
The village of Mailly is surrounded by the famous Grands Crus de Ludes, Verzenay and Verzy. Maison Mailly currently has 70 hectares of vines in this village alone. The grape varieties are 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, planted on chalk hillside soils that benefit from adequate sunshine and enable the grapes to reach full ripeness. Today, no fewer than 80 winemakers tend the vineyards of this illustrious House of Champagne.
Below ground, Maison Mailly boasts 7 floors of cellars and 1 kilometer of chalk pits. These cellars were dug into the chalk by hand from 1929 to 1965 by the founding winemakers, who at the same time built vaulted cellars ideal for bottle aging.

The Blanc de Pinot Noir Grand Cru cuvée is lively, gourmand and expressive, perfect for whetting your appetite as an aperitif but also as part of a gourmet meal.
L'exception Blanche is a Champagne Blanc de Blancs born to shine. Composed of 50% Chardonnay from Domaine to 50% Chardonnay from Côte des blancs in Grand Cru, it is round, mineral and on the fruit, and will exalt all connoisseurs.
How can we not evoke the cuvée Les Echansons 2012, a reflection of the best that the Mailly terroir has to offer in the best years. Richly aromatic, unctuous and generous, this is a great Champagne that leaves no one indifferent and will accompany refined dishes.
