The Glen Scotia adventure began in 1832, when the distillery was founded by Steward, Galbraith & Co. At that time, Campbeltown was a hub of whisky production, with a distillery on almost every street corner. However, economic upheaval and Prohibition in the United States in the 1920s led to the closure of most of the sites. Glen Scotia survived these trials and tribulations and continues to produce whisky true to the spirit of Campbeltown, preserving original production methods and equipment, such as the mash tun, the still room, and the 19th-century dunnage warehouses.
In 2021, Glen Scotia was named Scottish Distillery of the Year at the Scottish Whisky Awards, a recognition that crowns its commitment to quality and heritage.
