The Château Marquis de Terme is a very pretty reference of the great wines of Margaux, renowned for its fruit and finesse. It was in 1762 that the Marquis de Terme gave his name to this property, which he received by marriage as a dowry from his wife.
Thomas Jefferson, US ambassador to France, praised it in his travel notes in 1787, ranking it among his favorites.
The Château Marquis de Terme was awarded the title of Fourth Grand Cru Classé in the prestigious 1855 classification, published for the Paris Universal Exhibition. The property has belonged to the Sénéclauze family since 1935, who continue to contribute to its qualitative development: respect for the environment, plot management and tailor-made vinification help reveal the Extraordinary potential of its terroir.
The vineyard covers 39 hectares of vines, planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. It is located on gravelly soils with deep clay in places. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
One Second wine is produced by the estate, La Couronne de Marquis de Terme.

From the heart of the Margaux appellation, on soils of deep gravel and mixed clay, Château Marquis de Terme 2024 embodies the finesse of a fresh, contrasting vintage. Despite a demanding season, marked by an arRosé spring and constant vigilance in the vineyard, Domaine is a seductive wine, driven by balance and precision.
The blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), complemented by Merlot (38%) and a touch of Petit Verdot (2%), reveals a dense color and an expressive bouquet of fresh black fruits, underlined by delicate floral notes such as violets and peonies.
On the palate, the texture is smooth and velvety, supported by a salivating freshness and silky tannins. Careful barrel ageing (40% new wood) aims to pRéserver enhance the fruit's brilliance and the delicacy of the structure.
With its moderate yields, gentle vinification and ageing adapted to the vintage, Marquis de Terme's 2024 is part of a modern vision of the cru: combining controlled density, floral energy and aromatic precision.
