Château d'Armailhac

Château d'Armailhac

The Château d'Armailhac is one of the most famous Domaines in the Pauillac appellation. Having belonged to the d'Armailhacq family since the 18th century, it was awarded the title of Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the famous classification of Médoc wines for the Paris Universal Exhibition.

It was acquired by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1933, who named it "Mouton-Baron-Philippe". In 1975, when his daughter Baroness Philippine took over its management, it became "Mouton-Baronne-Philippe". Finally, she decided to restore its identity, permanently naming it Château d'Armailhac in 1991.

Located on gravel and clay-limestone soils, its vineyard covers 76 hectares of vines, of which 55% are Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 8% Cabernet franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

The Château d'Armailhac is a wine that combines power and refinement, complexity and elegance, with a beautiful aromatic expression typical of Pauillac.

Description Château d'Armailhac 2024.

"A beautiful garnet-red color, the wine's initial nose offers vegetal notes of blackcurrant buds. After aeration, spicy notes of pepper and licorice appear, accompanied by blackberry. The palate is straightforward with good tension, and the fruit expresses itself with great freshness. The relatively dense structure unfolds on the mid-palate, providing a silky texture. The woody fruit finish leaves a pleasant impression." - Marie, Oenologue Premium Grands Crus

The 2024 vintage was tricky at the beginning and end of the vine cycle, but fortunately clement at stages decisive for quality. The hot, Sec and sunny summer favored a strong hydric constraint allowing fine ripening of tannins and good synthesis of anthocyanins. From the spring soil work to the harvest, the involvement of our teams and the performance of our tools enabled us to always be in action and never in reaction. This tailor-made approach has produced fresh, highly aromatic, fine and elegant wines, perfectly illustrating the Atlantic expression of the terroirs from which they come.

Area under production: 80 hectares
Average age of vines: 40 years
Ageing: 18 months - 50% new barrels
Harvest dates: September 25 to October 08, 2024

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
