The Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste stands guard at the entrance to the prestigious Pauillac appellation. Its name refers to its privileged location on the heights of the appellation, atop a Puy, the Lacoste family being its owners in 1855 when it attained the title of Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the famous classification of Médoc wines for the Paris Universal Exhibition.
In 1978, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste became part of the Borie family. Thanks to numerous technical renovations, the wines today reflect the full potential of the terroir from which they come.
The vineyard of Domaine is located on deep gravelly hilltops, and covers 62 hectares of vines, planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wines are aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 75% of which are new.
Lacoste-Borie is the estate's Second wine, produced with young vines and the same care as its elder brother.
The Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste produces wines in the image of Pauillac, they are powerful but controlled, with elegant tannins and offer beautiful aromatic depth.
"The wine has a beautiful garnet-red color with brilliant, dark reflections. In the glass, it expresses a fine, gourmand nose with notes of black fruit, cedar and light tobacco. On the palate, the attack is refined and greedy, followed by relatively substantial tannins that will need several years of cellaring to develop a proper patina. The aromatic palette is rich and the finish has great length." - Marie, Oenologue Premium Grands Crus
Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2024 is marked by a very high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (78%), which once again demonstrates the identity of the terroir and the finesse of its expression. This 2024 vintage embodies the elegance of the vintage, with beautifully ripe fruit and remarkable freshness. Its garnet-red color precedes an expressive nose of ripe black fruits accompanied by subtle notes of violets. On the palate, the attack is full and enveloping, with a silky texture and fine, powdery tannins. The whole offers a harmonious balance between structure, velvetiness and brilliance. In keeping with the estate's style, this refined wine will be accessible in its youth, but has excellent ageing potential.
