Château Lynch-Moussas

The Château Lynch-Moussas is located on the large plateaus to the west of the Pauillac appellation. Its name is inspired by the plateau where most of its vineyards are located.

The Château Lynch-Moussas was named Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification for the Paris Universal Exhibition.

The Castéja family acquired it at the beginning of the 20th century, and since 2001 it has been managed by Philippe Castéja, who has since given birth to great wines renowned for their finesse and structure.

The Château Lynch-Moussas is based on a 62-hectare vineyard planted on gravel soils, with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with around 55% new wood.

The estate produces a Second wine, Les Hauts de Lynch-Moussas.

The Château Lynch-Moussas offer fleshy, concentrated wines with a fine tannic structure. Built for ageing, they are also accessible in their youth.

Description Château Lynch-Moussas 2024.

The year 2024 opened with a cold, wet winter, followed by a mild but temperamental spring. The vines budded around March 20, despite heavy rainfall. Temperatures gradually rose, but persistent rainfall from April to May favored the appearance of mildew, accompanied by coulure and millerandage.
Flowering, between mid-May and early June depending on the grape variety, took place under unstable weather conditions. Conditions remained delicate until July, with cumulative rainfall of 400 to 500 mm depending on the property. This made vineyard management particularly demanding.
In mid-July, the climate finally improved with the arrival of warm, overcast weather. August was ideal, with alternating warm days and cool nights, allowing the grapes to ripen nicely.
At the beginning of September, the weather became uncertain again, putting the berries to a severe test. Harvesting takes place from late September to early October, requiring meticulous sorting both in the vineyard and in the winery. This rigorous work resulted in very low yields, but a wine of great quality.
The 2024 vintage stands out for its elegance, aromatic freshness, silky tannins and beautiful fruity expression. A little Extrait, it seduces with its airy, round, floral style - a "smiling" wine, reflecting a complex but magnificently mastered year.

"Presents length and structure in a linear, compact way, with aromas of blueberry, blackcurrant and a touch of lemongrass. Medium body and slender profile. Fresh, taut fruit." James Suckling

"Lynch-Moussas stands out for its depth and purity. Very explicit in the way it reveals itself, it displays spicy, fruity nuances with scents of elderberry and blueberry complemented by a touch of black pepper. On the palate, the wine has smooth, well-balanced tannins and a refreshing acid structure. A tasty wine that requires patience. A great success. 2029-2044. " Tasted on 23.04.2025 by Yves Beck

"Dark purple with violet highlights and an almost black heart. Quite expressive nose, combining precision and purity, with pretty black fruits - blackberries and blackcurrants - with a hint of graphite and fine toast in the background. On the palate, the structure is well in place, with firm but ripe tannins, elegant fruit, discreet spice and subtle oak. The attack is rather powerful, but the whole remains balanced, with very good length." Markus del Monego

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
