A lovely reference nestled in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Le Bon Pasteur was founded in the 1920s by the grandparents of the famous oenologist-consultant Michel Rolland. The latter took over in 1979, introducing numerous technical innovations that quickly contributed to its international renown.
Accompanied by his wife Dany, they have never ceased to magnify the grandeur of the terroir of their Domaine, offering complex, richly elegant crus. Today, the team is led by Benoît Prévot, with Michel Rolland as consultant.
The Château Le Bon Pasteur is planted on 6.6 hectares of gravel-clay and gravel-sand soils. The grape varieties are 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet franc. The wines are aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 80% of which are new.
L'Etoile de Bon Pasteur is the Second wine produced on the estate.
The Château Le Bon Pasteur produces wines that are almost exemplary, so refined, velvety and deep are they, developing sublime aromas of evolution after a few years of cellaring.
The 2024 vintage of Château Le Bon Pasteur follows in the footsteps of the great "vigneron vintages", where every cultural and technical choice was decisive. Produced from a gravel-clay terroir that has been carefully tended using integrated vineyard management methods, this wine reflects the team's constant commitment in the face of capricious, contrasting weather conditions.
Intra-parcel selection, meticulous hand-picking and complete vinification in 225-liter barrels give this cru remarkable precision and complexity.
The blend, dominated by Merlot (80%) and complemented by Cabernet Franc (20%), reveals an expressive nose of ripe black fruit, fresh cherry and subtle floral touches. With aeration, the wine develops mellow, finely toasted woody notes, the result of perfectly balanced ageing (50% new barrels).
Dense and silky on the palate, the wine is full-bodied without heaviness, supported by elegant freshness and a refined tannic structure.
This 2024 aptly embodies the identity of Pomerol: a charming, tasty and harmonious wine, made for immediate pleasure but with the potential to blossom over a fine decade.
Harvest date: September 24 to October 5, 2024.
