Clos de l'Oratoire, nestled on the northeast slope of Saint-Émilion, covers some 13 hectares. Its unique terroir, composed of Fronsac molasse with a sandy subsoil and clay subsoil, is particularly well-suited to Merlot, which accounts for 80% of the grape varieties planted.
Meticulous care is taken throughout the year to pRéserver the exceptional qualities of this vineyard.
Vinification takes place exclusively in temperature-controlled wooden vats. Wood, a noble, living material, harmonizes perfectly with the wine, allowing it to reveal all its richness of color and flavor.
Each vat is treated individually according to its characteristics, with moderate temperatures and very slow punching down, scrupulously respecting the raw material.
92-93 James Suckling - May 2025 : "A fresh and crunchy red with creamy tannins that are caressing and pretty. Medium-bodied, bright and lively. A blend of 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc."
91-94 Vinous - April 2025 : "The 2024 Clos de L'Oratoire is a very beautiful Saint-Émilion. Dark, layered and vibrant, Clos de L'Oratoire has a lot to offer. The 2024 is a bit more on the refined side, a reflection of both the vintage and a stylistic shift that has been in place for a number of years. Lavender, spice, licorice and espresso weave into a core of blue-toned fruit. Silky tannins wrap it all up in this stylish Saint-Emilion" (Antonion Galloni)
