Discreetly nestled in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Saint-Pierre reveals a nectar of unsuspected charm. Archives dating back to 1693 attest to the existence of Domaine, which was then called Serançan. It was bought by the Baron de Saint-Pierre during the reign of Louis XV, and as a result of several successions, it was broken up and dispersed.
Then, in 1982, with passion and tenacity, Henri Martin reconstituted Château as it was known in 1855, the year it was awarded the title of Fourth Grand Cru Classé in the Médoc wine classification formalized for the Paris World Fair.
The Château Saint-Pierre occupies a 17-hectare vineyard, planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The soils are gravel of Günzian origin, with sandy-clay subsoils. The wines are aged for 14 to 16 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
The Second wine of Domaine is named Esprit de Saint-Pierre.
The Château Saint-Pierre is recognized as a perfect representative of the great wines of Saint-Julien: complex, round and deliciously aromatic.
Château Saint-Pierre 2024 was an exceptional vintage, marked by atypical and demanding weather conditions. After a very rainy winter and a wet spring, our teams redoubled their efforts to protect the vineyard, in particular through reinforced organic treatments. The summer was more stable, allowing gradual ripening and a late but even veraison.
The harvest, which began on September 25 for the Merlot and October 2 for the Cabernets, was carried out with precision to guarantee optimal blending.
The first vintage to be certified organic, it is a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (85%), complemented by Merlot (12%) and Petit Verdot (3%). Gentle, controlled vinification has produced an ideal balance of freshness, structure and finesse.
On tasting, La robe is a dark red with purplish highlights.
The nose reveals aromas of red fruits (cherry, raspberry), enriched by notes of cedar and spices.
On the palate, the attack is velvety and silky, supported by fine, elegant tannins. The fresh, melting finish confirms the profile of a gourmet wine, harmonious and accessible from its youth. A vintage of instant pleasure, marked by freshness and balance.
Harvest date: 25/09/2024 to 09/10/2024.
