The Château Suduiraut is one of the finest wines from the Sauternes vineyard. The property dates back to the 17th century and boasts sumptuous gardens designed by André Le Nôtre, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the vineyard.
The Château Suduiraut was named Premier Grand Cru Classé in the classification of Bordeaux wines officialized in 1855 for the Paris Universal Exhibition.
Owned by the AXA millésimes group since 1992, its quality and reputation have grown steadily to become today one of the finest wines of Sauternes. Nothing is left to chance to meet this objective: passion of the teams, tailor-made choice of plots, selective harvesting, rigorous vinification and blending.
The Château Suduiraut watches over a 91-hectare vineyard planted on sandy-clay gravel soils. The grape varieties are 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The wines are aged for 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
In liquoreux, the estate produces a Second wine, Les Lions de Suduiraut, as well as a third wine, Castelnau de Suduiraut.
The estate also produces four Sec white wines in the Bordeaux appellation, which are in order of quality: the grand vin, a Pur Sémillon cuvée, Lions de Suduiraut and S de Suduiraut.
The 2024 vintage of Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru Classé de Sauternes, follows in the great tradition of exceptional sweet wines, while brilliantly expressing the personality of a complex vintage.
Made exclusively from Sémillon, harvested by successive selections between September 19 and October 24, this wine highlights the precision of the vineyard work and the unique know-how of the estate.
After a rainy spring marked by mildew, the hot, dry summer allowed the berries to concentrate beautifully.
The rapid and uniform appearance of noble rot in mid-September, followed by periods of fine weather, favored a meticulous and spread-out selection, ensuring the purity and richness of the musts. The final yield is 11.3 hl/ha, reflecting our constant commitment to quality.
Vinified in barrels, 50% of which are new, and aged between 16 and 20 months, this Sauternes has a brilliant golden color. The nose reveals aromas of roasted apricot, white flowers and candied fruit, supported by an elegant toasty note. On the palate, the texture is dense but balanced, with freshness and perfectly integrated sugar (130 g/l). The long, suave finish hints at great ageing potential.
A pure, racy Sauternes, confirming Château Suduiraut's status as one of the appellation's great references.
Harvest dates: September 19 and October 24, 2024
