Château Figeac

The Château Figeac is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars of the Saint-Émilion vineyard. The first traces of the wine estate date back to Gallo-Roman times in the 2nd century, when it included a villa belonging to the Figeacus family.

Domaine was burnt down in 1586 during the Wars of Religion, then rebuilt as we know it today. In 1892, Château Figeac passed into the hands of the Manoncourt family, who are still at the helm today.

The estate owes its spectacular growth and influence to Thierry Manoncourt (1917-2010), a visionary and avant-garde agricultural engineer. Today, his wife Marie-France, accompanied by their two daughters Hortense and Blandine, continue to perpetuate the "Figeac spirit" by producing great wines renowned worldwide for their finesse and purity, while maintaining a profound respect for the environment.

With the creation of the Saint-Emilion classification in 1955, Château Figeac was immediately classified among the so-called Premiers Grands Crus Classés (known as "B" until 2006). In September 2022, it was elevated to Premier Grand Cru Classé "A".

The Château Figeac is planted on a 40-hectare vineyard on three Günzian gravel outcrops, with 35% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. These exceptional geological and viticultural... See more ...

Description Château Figeac 2024.

The 2024 vintage of Château Figeac is the fruit of a challenge brilliantly met, in an unpredictable climatic context. Marked by exceptional rainfall, this wine bears witness to the resilience of an exceptional terroir and the precision of exemplary human work.

La robe is a deep, brilliant ruby color, foreshadowing great concentration.

The nose gradually reveals notes of black cherry, blackcurrant and violet, enriched by hints of incense, licorice and graphite, the signature of its Cabernet nobles. With aeration, complexity intensifies, with spicy accents and a fine, perfectly integrated woody structure.

On the palate, the attack is pure, straightforward and immediately elegant. The wine unfolds with balance on a silky, precise texture. The natural freshness that is the hallmark of this vintage underpins the wine's density and lengthens the finish.

The fine, racy tannins create a structure of gentle tension, typical of great Figeac wines. The 2024 blend (33% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon) offers a remarkable harmony of fruit, finesse and energy.

This Château Figeac 2024 promises to be a wine of refined, long-lasting expression, illustrating the total commitment of Domaine in the face of climatic hazards. A great wine for laying down, both luminous and profound, that magnifies its terroir and affirms the greatness of the cru.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
