Location & History
Château Doisy-Daëne, Second Cru Classé in 1855, located in Barsac in the Sauternes appellation, has been in the Dubourdieu family since 1924. For over eighty years, three generations of winemakers have worked here from father to son to produce great sweet wines: Georges (1924-1948), Pierre (1949-1999) and Denis since 2000.
Soils
The terroir of the Barsac plateau is a singular geological formation in the Bordeaux region. A thin layer of clayey sands known as "les sables rouges du barsacais" covers the limestone subsoil. This relatively uncracked slab of rock limits the vines' rooting depth to around 50 cm. During the summer, the finely porous limestone returns to the vines the water they have soaked up during the winter, avoiding excessive water stress. This type of soil gives white wines exceptional finesse.

The winemaking process at Doisy-Daëne is based on know-how that combines tradition and precision. Harvesting, carried out by experienced teams, requires between 3 and 6 passes in order to pick berries affected by "noble rot" at the perfect moment. For the past 75 years, oenological progress combined with an integrated approach has enabled us to reveal the full potential of the grapes from this Domaine. This mastery translates into a purified vinification process, where the musts, obtained through slow pressing, ferment in oak barrels that are partially renewed each year. Ageing begins with 10 months in barrels in the winery, punctuated by weekly topping-up and regular racking, before continuing for 9 months in stainless steel tanks until bottling.
Doisy-Daëne wine expresses a singular style, characterized by the luminous concentration of fruit thanks to "noble rot". Its liveliness, balance and aromatic finesse reflect both the great limestone terroir of Domaine and the family tradition of elegance and purity. These racy white wines, with their controlled power and dazzling freshness, defy time with an almost timeless youthfulness.
