The Château Guiraud, located in the Sauternes appellation of the Bordeaux region, is a distinguished wine estate that combines a rich history, family management and exceptional terroir to produce sweet wines of exceptional quality.
The history dates back to the 18th century, when Pierre Guiraud, a merchant and vineyard owner, acquired the property in 1766. Since then, Domaine has seen a series of passionate owners, but it is under the leadership of the Narby family, who acquired it in 2006, that Château Guiraud has cemented its reputation as a producer of great sweet wines.
The Narby family has continued the tradition of respect for terroir and innovation, introducing sustainable viticultural practices and adopting modern winemaking methods. Domaine is certified organic and biodynamic, underlining their commitment to preserving the environment and producing superior wines.
Situated on the Sauternes plateau, the Guiraud vineyard benefits from a soil composed of clay, limestone and gravel, which favors the development of botrytis cinerea, the noble fungus needed to produce sweet wines. The vines also benefit from ideal sun exposure and proximity to the River Ciron, creating optimal conditions for the formation of noble rot.

The 2024 vintage of Château Guiraud is part of a year marked by complex climatic conditions. The winter, with its exceptionally mild temperatures, led to early bud-break before mid-March. The 2022 investments in anti-freeze towers proved decisive in limiting the impact of the late frost between April 19 and 24. Spring, with its persistent humidity and cool temperatures, demanded constant vigilance in the face of disease pressure, particularly downy mildew, which was kept under control thanks to hard work. Despite the relatively hot summer, the grapes ripened slowly and evenly. In September, record rainfall of 150 mm encouraged the early development of Botrytis cinerea, leading to the first sorting on September 19. Three additional sortings, carried out in conditions of regular rainfall, nevertheless enabled us to harvest grapes of remarkable quality. The harvest, completed on October 22, produced unexpectedly generous volumes.
On tasting, the 2024 vintage reveals dazzling freshness and remarkable vivacity. The nose reveals delicate aromas of white peach, preserved lemon, bitter orange zest, apricot Sec and black tea. The palate, airy and taut, is in keeping with the appellation's standards, combining smoothness, roundness, complexity and aromatic persistence. Château Guiraud 2024, faithful to the identity of Domaine, stands out for its perfect balance, refined gourmandise and unrivalled finesse, promising exceptional tasting pleasure.
