It's often said that anyone who has tasted Château Palmer at least once will remember it for the rest of their life. Without pretension, this may well be true, as it's such a beautiful name for Margaux. Château began to make a name for itself in 1814 when Colonel Charles Palmer bought it from Marie de Gascq, in which he invested considerable sums.
The Château Palmer was awarded the title of Troisième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification for the Paris Universal Exhibition. It wasn't until the following year that the neo-renaissance Château as we know it today was built under the aegis of the Péreire brothers. Today, Domaine is owned equally by the Sichel and Mähler-Besse families, who continue to expand its reputation.
The vineyard covers 55 hectares, planted with 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. The vines have been entirely managed according to Biodynamic principles since 2014. The wines are aged for 20 to 22 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
A Second wine is produced by the estate, Alter Ego de Palmer.

Alter Ego 2024 is part of a vintage of contrasts, born of extreme weather conditions. With rainfall double the ten-year average and early mildew pressure from April onwards, the viticultural campaign put teams to the test.
Despite a compromised flowering of the old Merlot vines and unsettled weather right up to the harvest (from September 25 to October 10), the quality of the harvest was a surprise.
The summer, Sec and life-saving, allowed the berries to fully ripen. Meticulous sorting and expert vinification revealed highly aromatic grapes and extremely fine tannins. The modest yield of 22 hl/ha testifies to this high standard.
The blend, composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, was achieved with extreme precision. Balance was gradually achieved, as if it were self-evident. Alter Ego 2024 is distinguished by a delicate tannic structure and a harmonious profile that makes it already accessible, without compromising its ageing potential.
A vibrant wine, faithful to its identity and terroir, where human mastery has magnified the complexity of a capricious nature.
