Darroze is a renowned spirits trading house, specializing in exceptional eaux-de-vie and armagnacs. The story of this family-run house is one of passion for craftsmanship, tradition and the relentless pursuit of quality.
The Darroze family has built its reputation on an incredible collection of Armagnacs from the region's finest estates. Each is matured in its own personal piece of oak; the name of the estate, the year of production and the bottling date guarantee this unique diversity. To pRéserver specificities, no blends of Domaines or vintages. So as not to betray the typicities, no "reduction" that would dilute not only the alcoholic strength but also the aromatic power and nuances of the terroir by adding "petites eaux".
The story goes back to the end of the 19th century, when Francis Darroze, a young man with a passion for spirits, began scouring the Armagnac region of southwest France for the best armagnac producers. In the heart of the Bas-Armagnac golden triangle, the Domaine de Cantau produces exceptional eaux-de-vie. This 1994 vintage, from a terroir where tawny sands mingle with clay, offers a Bas-Armagnac of rare elegance. The emblematic grape varieties, Folle Blanche and Baco, find their full expression here, carefully distilled by Philippe Gironi's stills and aged in 400-liter oak barrels from the Bartholomo cooperage.
This Bas-Armagnac, produced by Guy Beyris, is the result of artisanal expertise passed down through generations. With an alcohol content of 51%, it embodies the quintessence of the Bas-Armagnac appellation, combining power and finesse.
Its amber color with golden highlights will captivate lovers of exceptional spirits. The slightly rising nose opens up after a little aeration, revealing vanilla and pastry aromas, subtly accompanied by smoky notes and candied fruits such as apricot and tarte tatin.
On the palate, it seduces with its roundness and smoothness, evoking gingerbread and marzipan, before finishing with an elegant persistence and a delicate rancio. This Darroze Domaine de Cantau 1994 is a very fine Bas-Armagnac, to be savored neat to appreciate its full complexity.
This 1994 vintage is much more than a bottle: it is an invitation to explore the soul of Bas-Armagnac. Whether to enrich a collection, celebrate a special occasion, or simply treat yourself to a moment of refined tasting, this Darroze embodies the authenticity and prestige of the great vintages.
