La Maison De Sousa is located in the commune of Avize in the heart of the prestigious Côte des blancs. It was founded by Antoine De Sousa in the 1950s through marriage to a daughter from a winegrowing family.
Today, Erick De Sousa is one of the region's most talented winemakers, favoring a sustainable approach to his vineyards in order to produce authentic Champagnes of great purity.
In the aftermath of the First World War, Manuel De Sousa, originally from the province of Braga and part of the Portuguese contingent sent to the front, decided to settle in Champagne at Avize with his wife. His son Antoine married Zoémie Bonville, from a long-established family of winegrowers in the region. A success story that has never ceased to endure. Their son Erick took over in 1986, demonstrating exceptional talent in raising the vineyard to a new level of excellence Rare. Today, he is gradually passing on his heritage and passion to his three children: Charlotte, Julie and Valentin, who will continue to write the pages of history.

Cuvée Blanc de noirs from Maison De Sousa is from the 2018 harvest. Made exclusively from Pinot Noirs grown in the village of Ambonnay Grand Cru, is an exceptional Champagne produced in a limited edition of 5,000 bottles. Grown on clay-limestone soils, the 55-year-old vines give this Champagne a unique structure and depth, while respecting organic and biodynamic growing methods.
This cuvée is vinified in 228-liter oak barrels for 10 months, giving it exceptional roundness and complexity. The intensely golden La robe is highlighted by a delicate effervescence that carries fine, persistent bubbles.
On the nose, this Champagne reveals an aromatic richness dominated by notes of ripe fruit such as black cherry and plum, accompanied by subtle nuances of toast and vanilla, the legacy of its barrel-ageing. The Brut nature character of the Champagne, without any dosage, highlights the purity and intensity of the fruity flavors and the lively freshness of the wine.
On the palate, the attack is frank and direct. Black fruit flavors combine with hints of spice and wood, leading to a long, clean finish marked by delicate bitterness.
Served at between 8 and 10°C, this Champagne is a perfect match for rich dishes such as poularde au vin jaune et morilles, seafood and mature cheeses. With an aging potential of 3 to 5 years, Cuvée Blanc de noirs can also be enjoyed now.
