La Maison De Sousa is located in the commune of Avize in the heart of the prestigious Côte des blancs. It was founded by Antoine De Sousa in the 1950s through marriage to a daughter from a winegrowing family.
Today, Erick De Sousa is one of the region's most talented winemakers, favoring a sustainable approach to his vineyards in order to produce authentic Champagnes of great purity.
In the aftermath of the First World War, Manuel De Sousa, originally from the province of Braga and part of the Portuguese contingent sent to the front, decided to settle in Champagne at Avize with his wife. His son Antoine married Zoémie Bonville, from a long-established family of winegrowers in the region. A success story that has never ceased to endure. Their son Erick took over in 1986, demonstrating exceptional talent in raising the vineyard to a new level of excellence Rare. Today, he is gradually passing on his heritage and passion to his three children: Charlotte, Julie and Valentin, who will continue to write the pages of history.

Since 1982, Maison De Sousa, based in Avize, has embodied excellence in organic and biodynamic Champagne. Specializing in Chardonnay, it also explores Pinot Noir with a resolutely mineral and authentic approach.
The Maison De Sousa Blanc de Noirs cuvée is from the 2018 harvest. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the village of Ambonnay Grand Cru, it is an exceptional Champagne produced in a limited edition of 5,000 bottles. Grown on clay-limestone soils, the 55-year-old vines give this champagne a unique structure and depth, while respecting organic and biodynamic cultivation methods.
This cuvée is vinified in 228-liter oak barrels for 10 months, giving it exceptional roundness and complexity. The intensely golden color is highlighted by a delicate effervescence with fine, persistent bubbles.
In the glass, the champagne has a beautiful, clear, pale gold color with golden highlights. On the nose, it expresses a generous and complex bouquet with notes of strawberry, black cherry, redcurrant, toasted bread, licorice, and a chalky minerality. A hint of orange blossom adds a delicate floral touch in the background. On the palate, the attack is round and fleshy, carried by fruit flavors. The minerality, typical of the Côte des Blancs soils, balances the power of the Pinot Noir and lingers in a fresh and persistent finish.
Served at a temperature between 44°F and 46°F, this champagne is the perfect accompaniment to rich dishes such as chicken in yellow wine and morel mushrooms, various seafood, or mature cheeses.
