The Château La Conseillante is among the elite of the greatest Pomerol wines, leaving no wine lover indifferent. It was Catherine Conseillan who, in 1735, decided to give her name to this already renowned Domaine, whose neighbors include no less famous Châteaux such as l'Evangile, Pétrus and Cheval Blanc.
In 1871, the property was acquired by the Nicolas family and today, Jean-Valmy Bertrand Nicolas represent the fifth generation to produce a great wine whose reputation has crossed borders.
The Château La Conseillante is planted on 12 hectares of vines on soils of grey clay and sandy gravel with a subsoil of red clay due to the presence of iron dross, conferring a unique singularity to the wines.
The grape varieties are 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet franc. The wines are aged for an average of 18 months in French oak barrels, 50 to 70% of which are new. 3% of production is aged in amphorae.
The estate produces a Second wine, Duo de La Conseillante, which offers another facet of this exceptional terroir.
The Château La Conseillante delivers quite exceptional wines, renowned for being silky, elegant and balanced in power, marked by a finesse and mineral touch found nowhere else.
An unclassifiable vintage, 2023 is the brilliant successor to a dazzling 2022, which set all the cursors quite high, while playing on a different and unexpected register. This is a wine of fine concentration and fresh ripeness, combining greed, delicacy, mellowness in its definition and a juicy body.
This is a vintage of balance and harmony, whose aromatic brilliance, on tonic black fruit, is adorned with undeniable elegance. After 2019, 2020 and 2022, it joins the family of great recent vintages of Bordeaux.
70% aged in new barrels, 27% aged in traditional barrels, 3% aged in amphoras.
Production area in 2023: 11 ha.
