Château Carbonnieux

There's no need to present the splendid Château Carbonnieux, the emblematic property of the Bordeaux vineyard, where vines have been present since the 13th century. The first owners were the Benedictine monks of the Sainte-Croix Abbey in Bordeaux, and even back then they were instrumental in making the white and red wines of Château known in foreign countries.

Classified as red and white in the 1953 Graves classification, it has belonged to the Perrin family since 1956, with Eric and his brother Philibert Perrin being the fourth generation. With passion, they contribute to making Château Carbonnieux shine, whose great terroir is conducive to giving birth to great red and white wines.

The Château Carbonnieux reigns over a 92-hectare vineyard planted on gravel with clay and clay-limestone subsoils.the red grape varieties (50 ha) are 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The grand vin is aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. La Croix de Carbonnieux is the Second vin rouge.

- The white grape varieties (42 ha) are 65% Sauvignon blanc and 35% Sémillon. The grand vin blanc is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which are new. La Croix de Carbonnieux is the Second vin blanc.

The wines of Château Carbonnieux are renowned for their harmony, balance and ageing potential. The reds offer silky tannins and allow the fruit to express itself, and what can we say about the whites which are beautifully fresh and present an intense aromatic framework, ranking among the best in the appellation.

Description Château Carbonnieux 2025.

Château Carbonnieux Red 2025 follows in the footsteps of the great “5” vintages, characterized by early growth cycles and a high natural concentration in the grapes. After budbreak in late March and a rapid, uniform flowering in mid-May, the vines developed under very hot and dry summer conditions, resulting in small berries rich in substance and aroma. A few timely rains in July helped even out ripening, leading to a swift and perfectly orchestrated harvest. Winemaking, conducted in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with a total maceration of about 25 days, prioritizes gentle and precise extraction. The 14-month ageing, 20% of which took place in new barrels, supports the wine’s development without overpowering the fruit, in a spirit of balance and finesse.

On tasting, the color is deep, with purplish highlights. The nose expresses itself with discretion yet clarity, revealing aromas of black fruits such as blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, accompanied by subtle, slightly spicy notes and delicate oak. On the palate, the attack is supple and smooth. The wine develops with a fluid texture, centered on the fruit, without excessive extraction. The tannins are fine, present but perfectly integrated, providing just the right amount of structure. The overall impression remains approachable, rather restrained, with a subtle yet clean aromatic expression. The finish, simple and harmonious, prolongs the notes of black fruit with a slight sensation of freshness.

A discreet yet balanced 2025 Carbonnieux red, which prioritizes finesse and a gentle expression over power, in a classic style that clearly reflects the Pessac-Léognan terroir.

ROSES2025

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.

To earn this coveted “label,” each bottle must pass through rigorous stages:

  • Ultra-strict specifications demanding authenticity and perfection.
