Château Talbot

This important vineyard of Saint-Julien takes its name from the English Constable Talbot, defeated at the Battle of Castillon near Bordeaux in 1453, which put an end to the Hundred Years' War.

This Château is a fourth Grand Cru Classé on the prestigious 1855 list.

The vineyard covers just over 105 hectares, with vines averaging 35 years in age, and production is around 530 barrels or between 600 and 650,000 bottles a year for an average red yield of 4 to 5000 liters per hectare.

Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon 66%, Merlot Noir 26%, Petit Verdot 5% and Cabernet Franc 3%.

Château Talbot also has 5 hectares planted with white Sauvignon for 80% and 20% Semillon. This is one of the oldest Secs wines in the Médoc: Château Caillou Blanc.

All the grapes are hand-picked and 40 to 50%, depending on the Vintage, are aged in barrels for 15 to 18 months, then bottled in an air-conditioned warehouse.

Description Château Talbot 2025.

Located at the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Talbot produced a vintage of great distinction in 2025, thanks to the consistent nature of its gravelly terroir and particularly meticulous vineyard management. The year began with a wet winter, allowing the vines to replenish essential water reserves ahead of a very dry spring and a particularly hot summer. Despite these sunny conditions, the vines maintained remarkable balance thanks to two timely rainstorms in late June and late July. Veraison concluded by mid-August amid low yields, promising concentrated yet harmonious grapes. The rains in late August perfected the ripening process and preserved the balance, offering ideal conditions for an early harvest, carried out from September 2 to 20 with great calm. The vineyard, situated on the large gravelly soils of Saint-Julien in the Médoc, benefits from rigorous plot-by-plot selection and strict sorting both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Winemaking, carried out with care and precision, emphasizes slow extraction and extended vatting to preserve the fruit’s vibrancy and the refined tannins that characterize the Talbot style. Ageing in French oak barrels then enhances the wine’s depth without ever masking its identity.

The blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, perfectly captures the classic and distinguished character of the vineyard, with a remarkable balance between power, freshness, and elegance. The wine reveals a deep color with purplish highlights. The nose, complex and refined, opens with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, enhanced by floral, minty, and slightly spicy touches. Upon aeration, nuances of cedar, graphite, and blond tobacco emerge, reinforcing its Médoc signature. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and velvety, carried by a dense yet perfectly controlled texture. The ripe, silky tannins structure an energetic and precise mid-palate, leading to a long, fresh, and mineral finish. Despite the sunny character of the vintage, Talbot 2025 retains remarkable tension and classic elegance, giving it excellent ageing potential.

Harvested from September 2 to 20.

ROSES2025

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
