Nestled along the Gironde estuary, between the villages of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, Château du Glana stands majestically on the prestigious Route des Grands Vins, facing the venerable Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. Built in 1870, its emblematic walls elegantly blend the whiteness of limestone with the warm red of brick, bearing witness to a remarkable architectural heritage.
Designed by Blaye's municipal architect, Monsieur NaDeau, on behalf of Monsieur Cayx at the time, Glana's Château has its roots in the division of Château Saint-Pierre, Fourth Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
In 1961, the eminent Vaucluse nurseryman Gabriel Meffre acquired it. Under his enlightened direction, Domaine expanded from five to forty-three hectares, through the successive purchase of plots formerly associated with Château Lagrange, Third Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien. Today, the Meffre family, represented by Jean-Paul and his grandsons Ludovic and Julien, ambitiously manage this estate, determined to exploit all its latent potential.
Nestled among the prestigious crus classés of the Médoc, the estate has enjoyed a remarkable rise in quality since 1999, the fruit of meticulous work and an innovative vision. Year after year, in-depth reflection and meticulous renovation of the vineyard have given birth to modern wines embodying the elegance, authenticity and spirit of the exceptional terroirs that gave rise to them.

A rare and exclusive vintage in Saint-Julien, 2025 stands out immediately as a year of great concentration, marked by historically low yields and an extremely rigorous selection process in the vineyard. The growing cycle proceeded generally uniformly, before shifting to a contrasting summer, alternating between hot spells and milder periods, which favored a gradual and steady ripening of the grapes. The season’s dry conditions naturally limited yields, enhancing the concentration of the berries and the finesse of the tannic structures. Precise and continuous plot-by-plot work allowed us to manage each section of the vineyard with the utmost care, tailoring interventions to the vigor and ripeness of each area. As harvest approached, berry tastings provided a detailed assessment of ripeness, leading to a harvest timed to perfection. The harvest, carried out from September 4 to 20, yielded small, uniform, and perfectly healthy grapes, providing a raw material of great precision.
The color is deep, a dark ruby with purplish highlights, reflecting beautiful concentration without excess. The nose opens with pure black fruit—cherry and blackberry—accompanied by delicate floral notes and a slightly spicy touch. The overall impression is clean, precise, and particularly expressive. On the palate, the attack is straightforward and refined. The wine is concentrated yet perfectly balanced, supported by fine, tight, and already well-integrated tannins. The mid-palate highlights pure, juicy fruit, extended by a fresh structure that provides tension and length. The finish is clean, persistent, and very harmonious, marked by a sense of purity and precision.
The 2025 vintage at Glana thus stands out for its restrained intensity and natural elegance: a wine with aging potential, distinguished and deep, that combines concentration and freshness in an expression particularly faithful to its Saint-Julien terroir.
