Château Palmer

It's often said that anyone who has tasted Château Palmer at least once will remember it for the rest of their life. Without pretension, this may well be true, as it's such a beautiful name for Margaux. Château began to make a name for itself in 1814 when Colonel Charles Palmer bought it from Marie de Gascq, in which he invested considerable sums.

The Château Palmer was awarded the title of Troisième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification for the Paris Universal Exhibition. It wasn't until the following year that the neo-renaissance Château as we know it today was built under the aegis of the Péreire brothers. Today, Domaine is owned equally by the Sichel and Mähler-Besse families, who continue to expand its reputation.

The vineyard covers 55 hectares, planted with 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. The vines have been entirely managed according to Biodynamic principles since 2014. The wines are aged for 20 to 22 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

A Second wine is produced by the estate, Alter Ego de Palmer.

The Château Palmer is renowned for the finesse and elegance of the wines it offers. Wines that are a true invitation to the pleasure of the senses.

Description Alter Ego de Palmer 2025.

Palmer 2025 Alter Ego brilliantly captures all the finesse of Margaux’s great gravelly terroirs. A true reflection of the Palmer style in a more immediate and airy expression, this year’s wine captivates with its luminous balance, powdery texture, and the remarkable purity of its fruit.

Following a mild and relatively dry winter, budbreak occurred early, as early as late March—several days ahead of the usual averages. This trend continued throughout the growing season. Flowering, which was rapid and uniform starting in mid-May, led to excellent fruit set despite naturally limited fertility. Starting in June, heat and drought set in for an extended period, causing early water stress that contributed to the natural concentration of the berries and the vintage’s tannic character. Veraison began on July 7 and concluded quickly under excellent conditions. The summer, which was particularly hot, was marked by several heat waves in August. The grapes, small and concentrated, nevertheless retained remarkable freshness thanks to the saving rains at the end of the season, which revived ripening and softened the skins without diluting the balance.

The harvest began historically early, with Merlot harvested as early as September 4, followed by Cabernet starting on September 11. The grapes were in excellent health and displayed perfectly controlled ripeness.

Palmer’s Alter Ego 2025 reveals a vibrant bouquet dominated by crisp red fruits, fresh cherry, violet, and delicate spicy notes. On the palate, the wine captivates with its silky texture, particularly fine tannins, and natural balance. The structure, precise and energetic, retains plenty of freshness despite the vintage’s sunny character. The elegant and lingering finish prolongs that sensation of purity and grace that is the hallmark of the great Margaux wines.

ROSES2025

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
