Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

The Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste stands guard at the entrance to the prestigious Pauillac appellation. Its name refers to its privileged location on the heights of the appellation, atop a Puy, the Lacoste family being its owners in 1855 when it attained the title of Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the famous classification of Médoc wines for the Paris Universal Exhibition.

In 1978, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste became part of the Borie family. Thanks to numerous technical renovations, the wines today reflect the full potential of the terroir from which they come.

The vineyard of Domaine is located on deep gravelly hilltops, and covers 62 hectares of vines, planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wines are aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 75% of which are new.

Lacoste-Borie is the estate's Second wine, produced with young vines and the same care as its elder brother.

The Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste produces wines in the image of Pauillac, they are powerful but controlled, with elegant tannins and offer beautiful aromatic depth.

Description Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste - Caisse Variation 2025.

Designed for discerning connoisseurs and collectors, this rare creation boldly reinterprets the traditional 12-bottle case. It combines one double magnum, two magnums, and four standard bottles, offering a unique exploration of the wine’s evolution through iconic bottle sizes.

The 2025 vintage of Grand-Puy-Lacoste ranks among the earliest in the estate’s history. Following a mild and relatively dry winter, the vines experienced uniform budbreak by the end of March. The sunny, dry spring fostered steady growth and impeccable health. The hot, dry summer accelerated the growing cycle, resulting in particularly early veraison. However, a few timely rains at the end of August helped maintain balance and prevent excessive concentration. The harvest, one of the fastest ever recorded at the estate, took place from September 4 to 18. Low yields, around 30 hl/ha, produced small, concentrated yet remarkably balanced grapes. The vintage also marked the debut of the château’s new gravity-fed fermentation tank, designed to further refine plot-specific precision and winemaking quality. The final blend features Cabernet Sauvignon (76%), complemented by 24% Merlot—a proportion reminiscent of the estate’s greatest vintages.

Upon tasting, the wine captivates with its aromatic brilliance, dominated by ripe blackcurrant, fresh blackberry, and black cherry, enhanced by nuances of graphite, cedar, and blond tobacco characteristic of the Pauillac terroir. The palate impresses with its balance between power and refinement. The attack is full-bodied and precise, carried by a dense texture that remains light on the palate. The tannins, particularly fine and racy, elegantly envelop the palate, while remarkable freshness underpins the whole. The Cabernet structure brings depth, energy, and length, without ever making the wine harsh. The long, harmonious finish prolongs the notes of black fruit, graphite, and sweet spices in an expression that is both noble and serene. Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2025 thus emerges as a Pauillac of great distinction, faithful to its classic style, combining concentration, precision, and freshness. A complete and distinguished wine, destined for excellent development in the bottle.

ROSES2025

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
