Château Clerc-Milon
The Château Clerc Milon is one of the most sublime wines in the Pauillac appellation. The lands of Domaine were included in those of the Lafite seigneury as early as the 18th century. In the aftermath of the French Revolution, Château Milon, in reference to the hamlet of Pauillac where it stood, was sold as national property and acquired by the Clerc family, who thus associated their name with it.
The Château Clerc Milon was awarded the title of Cinquième Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification for the Paris Universal Exhibition.
In 1970, it entered a new era when it was bought by Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Today, the estate is managed by his 3 grandchildren, who bring out the full potential of its exceptional terroir year after year, thanks to state-of-the-art technical facilities and great expertise.
Situated on sandy gravel and clay-limestone soils, the vineyard covers 41 hectares of vines, including 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1.5% Carmenère. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 50% are new.
The estate produces a Second wine, Pastourelle de Clerc Milon.
The wines of Château Clerc Milon are precise, complex and finely structured, where the brilliance of the fruit is expressed.

Description Château Clerc Milon 2019.
2019, complex bouquet and precise tannic structure for a very promising vintage.
Weather conditions
The start of 2019 was characterized by a winter that was warmer and more Sec than usual, with a record temperature of 24.7° C recorded on February 27. This mildness brought forward the vine cycle, which gradually slowed down with the arrival of a cooler spring and below-average temperatures. As a result, flowering finally took place on the usual dates.
After a month of contrasts in June, with late coolness and heavy rainfall followed by an early heat wave, July continued in fine weather. The summer was particularly sunny and warm, and on the eve of the harvest, the vines were in perfect condition: the beneficial rainfall recorded in July and August did much to limit the dehydration that might have been feared.
At Château Clerc Milon, harvesting took place from September 19 to October 9. Although a few raindrops peppered the harvest, general conditions remained very good, guaranteeing irreproachable grape quality.
Reflecting the generosity of 2019, the wines are very rich, with good degrees and lots of color. Their dense, satiny tannins make this a very promising vintage.
Tasting notes
La robe is garnet-red with purple highlights.
Elegant and refined, the nose exhales floral aromas evolving with aeration to notes of blackcurrant and licorice stick.
The full, unctuous attack is seductive in its complex bouquet, where scents of toasted cereals and violets magnificently accompany ripe fruit flavors.
The mid-palate is underpinned by high-quality, dense, velvety tannins.
The saline, slightly mentholated finish continues with chocolate nuances.
