Situated in the heart of the Médoc, Château Les Grands Chênes is a Domaine winery that has gone from strength to strength in recent years.
Under the guidance of Bernard Magrez, this estate has brought out the best in its terroir, offering wines of remarkable quality and excellent value for money.
The wines of Château Les Grands Chênes are distinguished by their aromatic complexity and well-balanced tannic structure. They often feature notes of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), sweet spices (vanilla, pepper) and light oak, all enhanced by a minerality characteristic of the terroir. These wines have great ageing potential, allowing the aromas to become more complex over time.
Connoisseurs will appreciate the consistency of this Domaine and its ability to produce wines that are both powerful and elegant. The Château Les Grands Chênes is a sure bet in the Médoc, a Domaine to keep an eye on for authentic, expressive wines.
This 2017 Médoc from Château Les Grands Chênes captivates from the very first glance with its deep garnet-purple color, reflecting a vintage marked by freshness and concentration. On the nose, it reveals a complex aromatic palette: lively notes of black cherry and blackcurrant intertwine with hints of dusty earth, cigar box, and iron ore, evoking the characteristic minerality of the great wines of the Médoc. A subtle iron touch on the finish adds an intriguing dimension, the signature of a terroir rich in history.
On the palate, this medium-bodied wine surprises with its freshness and purity. Flavors of blackcurrant, raisin cake, and dried blackberries harmonize with a mellow, silky texture, carried by melted tannins. The blend of Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) offers a perfect balance between the fleshy roundness of Merlot and the elegant structure of Cabernet, typical of the great wines of Bordeaux.
Enjoy now to appreciate its youthful fruitiness, or cellar for 5 to 10 years to allow its complexity to fully express itself. A versatile wine, ideal with dishes such as duck breast with porcini mushrooms, beef tenderloin with pepper crust, or mature cheeses (Saint-Nectaire, Cantal).
