Philipponnat

For 5 centuries now, the Philipponnat family has been making its mark on the land of Champagne. The House Philipponnat was founded in 1522 on the lands of Aÿ, where all generations have succeeded one another. Possessing a unique historical and viticultural heritage, it reigns today over a vineyard of 20 hectares classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru in Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Avenay.

The House Philipponnat produces exceptional vintages that express the richness of their terroir, shining with elegance and purity.

What is the history of Maison Philipponnat?

April de Philipponnat was a soldier in the army of François I, and was granted lands in Aÿ by the king as a reward for his exploits at the Battle of Marignan in 1515. The Philipponnats will thus devote themselves over the generations to the elaboration of Champagnes wines, and acquire at the beginning of the XXth century cellars dug in the XVIIIth century in Château of Mareuil, a village classified in Premier Cru. These cellars are still today an exceptional heritage.

In 1997, the House Philipponnat will be acquired by the group of Champagnes Lanson-BCC, but retains its family heritage. Charles Philipponnat is now its general manager.

What is the terroir of Maison Philipponnat?

House Philipponnat operates a 20-hectare vineyard classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru in Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Avenay. The vines are worked with the greatest respect for the soil and the environment, in particular by the use of draught horses for the ploughing. The House Philipponnat... See more ...

Description Philipponnat Réserve Perpétuelle non dosé.

The Maison Philipponnat's Réserve Perpétuelle Non Dosé is the most authentic expression of the Champagne terroir, enhanced by ancestral expertise and a philosophy of purity. With no dosage liqueur added, this cuvée reveals all the complexity and minerality of the Grands and Premiers Crus of Mareuil-sur-Ay, in a perfect harmony between freshness and depth.

A unique winemaking heritage

  • An exceptional blend: 66% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Meunier, with 56% of reserve wines aged in wood, guaranteeing a rich structure and subtle patina.
  • Rigorous vinification: 26.8% of the 2021 harvest wines are aged without malolactic fermentation, preserving their aromatic purity.
  • Prolonged aging: Minimum 3 years on lees in the House's cellars, at a constant temperature of 12°C, for optimal maturation.

A sensory experience

To the eye, a pale gold color and a fine, persistent mousse. On the nose, delicate aromas of lime blossom, vine and hawthorn. On the palate, a straightforward and lively attack, marked by citrus notes, beautiful minerality and a long finish with hints of warm bread and fresh apple.

The new packaging highlights the name of the cuvée and its Non Dosé character, while the midnight blue case decorated with a golden checkerboard pattern is inspired by the family coat of arms, symbolizing the alliance between tradition and modernity.

Perfect as a refined aperitif (served at 8°C) or to accompany raw fish, seafood, and Japanese cuisine.

Why choose the non-dosé perpetual reserve?

  • A historic cuvée, perpetually renewed since 1946.
  • A rare balance between freshness and complexity, thanks to the Réserve Perpétuelle and the Réserve Essentielle.
  • A sleek and contemporary design that reflects Philipponnat's excellence.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
