Domaine Marguet: a biodynamic vision of Champagne.
Located at Ambonnay, in the heart of the Champagne region, Domaine Marguet stands out for its commitment to biodynamics, a Rare approach in Champagne. This conversion, initiated by Benoît Marguet, has profoundly transformed practices at Domaine.
While Benoit's parents Marguet sold their grapes to the house Krug, Benoit Marguet developed his own wine range with numerous parcel-based cuvées highlighting the diversity and richness of the old vines of Domaine.
As a fervent advocate of Biodynamics, Benoît Marguet, has revolutionized working methods by introducing biodynamic preparations, phytotherapy and aromatherapy. He has also introduced tillage with draught horses. The 8-hectare Domaine obtained Demeter certification in 2013.
Benoît's approach Marguet is guided by respect for natural balance, service to life, and delicate accompaniment of the winemaking process, avoiding any Brutality. Particular attention is paid to fermentation and ageing under wood. The use of sulfites is minimized.
At the same time, a significant effort has been made on dosage, drastically reduced or even eliminated on most cuvées. This development demonstrates that meticulous work in the vineyards produces wines that are authentic, expressive and naturally balanced by their terroir.

Marguet's Yuman Champagne is a must-try from the estate. This 100% Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in the premier cru terroirs of Villeneuve Renneville and Villers Marmery, cultivated using biodynamic methods. Pressed using a high-quality Coquard press, fermentation is initiated by indigenous yeasts, allowing for an authentic expression of the terroir. The wine then undergoes prolonged aging on lees for nine months, respecting the lunar cycles to optimize its natural development.
This Blanc de Blancs is distinguished by its freshness and fruity character, enhanced by the total absence of dosage (Brut Nature, 0 g/l of added sugar). Marguet is committed to sustainable winemaking, with minimal use of sulfur.
In a pale yellow, crystalline case with silvery highlights, it reveals a delicate and pure expression on the nose. Notes of pink grapefruit, lemon zest and a hint of jasmine intermingle. After aeration, notes of fresh almond and chalk typical of these Champagne terroirs appear. On the palate, the attack is straightforward and the bubbles are fine and elegant. The perfectly controlled liveliness brings a vertical relief that carries a silky texture. The aromatics, mainly mineral, carried by a beautiful salinity on the finish, give Yuman 22 a refreshing and racy persistence.
