Domaine Marguet: a biodynamic vision of Champagne.
Located at Ambonnay, in the heart of the Champagne region, Domaine Marguet stands out for its commitment to biodynamics, a Rare approach in Champagne. This conversion, initiated by Benoît Marguet, has profoundly transformed practices at Domaine.
While Benoit's parents Marguet sold their grapes to the house Krug, Benoit Marguet developed his own wine range with numerous parcel-based cuvées highlighting the diversity and richness of the old vines of Domaine.
As a fervent advocate of Biodynamics, Benoît Marguet, has revolutionized working methods by introducing biodynamic preparations, phytotherapy and aromatherapy. He has also introduced tillage with draught horses. The 8-hectare Domaine obtained Demeter certification in 2013.
Benoît's approach Marguet is guided by respect for natural balance, service to life, and delicate accompaniment of the winemaking process, avoiding any Brutality. Particular attention is paid to fermentation and ageing under wood. The use of sulfites is minimized.
At the same time, a significant effort has been made on dosage, drastically reduced or even eliminated on most cuvées. This development demonstrates that meticulous work in the vineyards produces wines that are authentic, expressive and naturally balanced by their terroir.

Champagne Marguet "Sapience" 2017 is the first certified exceptional Champagne made from organically grown grapes. Both contemporary and timeless, it elevates Champagne to a new dimension. A blend of 68% Meunier and 32% Pinot Noir, it embodies a perfect alchemy between nature and human expertise, offering a moving tasting experience that awakens the senses.
With a deep golden color and amber and copper highlights, it has a crystalline clarity. The bubbles, exquisitely fine, form a creamy and persistent mousse. In the glass, it reveals a remarkably intense nose, marked by aromas of pink grapefruit, white flowers, green apple, and pear. A chalky minerality intertwines with notes of fresh brioche and acacia honey. Hints of orange peel and sweet spices emerge, adding a more complex dimension. When brought to the lips, the fresh and elegant attack carries us away. A vibrant liveliness perfectly highlights flavors of Golden apple, Williams pear, and citrus zest. The relatively long finish expresses a salinity that invites you to take another sip.
This 2017 vintage, marked by a balanced structure and aromatic complexity, can be cellared for several years. With time, it will develop tertiary aromas of truffle, undergrowth, and candied fruit, while retaining its freshness and mineral balance.
