It was in 1915 that Armand-Raphaël Graser, then a wine merchant in Alsace, left his native region to join Champagne and set up in Damery, in an 18th-century building with typical Champagne architecture, the company's current head office. He began producing Champagne under the brand name "AR Lenoble", "A.R." for his initials and "Lenoble" as a tribute to the nobility of Champagne wines.
In 1947, his son Joseph then succeeded him, then in 1973, on Joseph's retirement, the House passed into the hands of Jean-Marie Malassagne, Armand-Raphaël's grandson, who himself in 1993 handed over the keys to the house to his daughter Anne and son Antoine, the 4th generation at the helm of this very fine House.
Today, in order to pursue its development, the company has decided to open up its capital to the Frère-Gallienne family's FG Bros holding company, which owns stakes in Château Cheval Blanc in Saint-Emilion. Antoine Malassagne "remains associated and operationally involved to ensure the continuity of the work accomplished alongside his sister Anne over three decades.
Champagne A.R. Lenoble "Les Aventures" Blanc de blancs Grand Cru is a bold, atypical expression of the exceptional terroir of Chouilly, in the heart of Côte des blancs. Made from a carefully selected parcel of Chardonnay, this Champagne embodies excellence and complexity, the fruit of a meticulous blend of exceptional vintages, 65% from the 2012 harvest, complemented by 20% from 2009 and 15% from 2008
Vinification takes place in vats and 228-liter oak barrels, allowing slow, precise ripening that sublimates the unique characteristics of each harvest. With a maturation time of over ten years in the cellar, this Champagne develops exceptional depth and aromatic complexity.
The Extra brut dosage, at just 2 g/L, enhances the purity and minerality of the Chardonnay, while respecting the balance and finesse of this great wine. On tasting, "Les Aventures" reveals a mature aromatic profile, marked by notes of roasting and saffron. Aromas of truffle, mocha and praline dominate the bouquet, while on the palate, sweet spices and blond tobacco blend elegantly. The structure remains tonic and well-balanced, with a thirst-quenching finish of citrus peel.
This Champagne goes perfectly with refined cuisine, such as risotto with white asparagus, roast lobster or veal blanquette.
