Champagne Henriot

Maison Henriot ranks among the most illustrious names in Champagne, driven by a family-owned independence that has been preserved for over two centuries. Guided by a constant quest for precision and elegance, the House cultivates an exceptional vineyard, drawing its strength from the finest terroirs of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Heir to a unique expertise, Maison Henriot is dedicated to enhancing the finesse of Chardonnay, the hallmark of its inimitable style.

Maison Henriot: An Inspired Legacy

It all began in 1808, when Apolline Henriot, a young widow and descendant of a family with deep roots in winemaking, decided to found her own Champagne house in Reims. Drawing on the scientific legacy of her great-uncle, Canon Godinot—author of a seminal treatise on viticulture published as early as 1718—Apolline infused the House with an innovative vision. Determined to “illuminate her lands by creating a great Champagne,” she laid the groundwork for a house that, from its very inception, has prioritized high standards and passion.

Over the generations, the Henriot family has enriched this legacy. In 1880, the marriage of Paul Henriot to Marie Marguet, a native of the Côte des Blancs, marked a historic turning point: the vineyard expanded to include prestigious Chardonnay crus, adding a new dimension to the blends. Resolutely forward-thinking, the family has always placed an understanding of the soil at the heart of its concerns, launching an ambitious project of soil pits as early as 1920. This culture of observation continues today under the leadership of Alice Tétienne, Cellar Master, through the “Alliance Terroirs”... See more ...

Description Henriot Blanc Souverain.

Rooted in the founding philosophy of Maison Henriot, Blanc de Blancs Souverain celebrates Chardonnay, a grape variety introduced to the family vineyard in the 19th century following the marriage of Paul Henriot and Marie Marguet, who came from a family of Grand Cru producers in the Côte des Blancs. This historic union has profoundly shaped the house’s identity and directed a major part of its style toward the finesse and purity of Chardonnay. In the spirit of Apolline Henriot, this champagne is conceived as a comprehensive exploration of the Champagne terroirs planted with Chardonnay. It is the result of a multi-vintage and multi-cru blend, allowing for the expression of different levels of ripeness and different origins within a single grape variety. Depending on the harvests, the proportion of each cru varies, thereby enhancing the cuvée’s complexity and richness. After blending, the bottles rest for at least three years in the house’s cellars in Reims, in the darkness and stability necessary for harmonious maturation. This aging allows the wine to develop a more refined texture while retaining great freshness.

The color is a luminous pale gold, enlivened by fine, consistent effervescence, a sign of masterful aging. The nose opens to a broad and contrasting aromatic palette. It features exotic notes such as ripe or flambéed pineapple, quickly balanced by fresher aromas of citrus and white flowers. Upon aeration, the mineral dimension reveals itself with hints of damp chalk, complemented by delicate pastry nuances that bring depth and elegance. On the palate, the wine impresses with its silky, enveloping texture. The attack is full-bodied and velvety, carried by a lively freshness that structures the whole. The flavors alternate between white fruits, ripe citrus, and richer notes of fine pastries. The Chardonnay’s mineral tension provides balance and length, preventing any heaviness despite the aromatic richness. The finish is long, elegant, and taut, marked by a lovely chalky sensation and lingering freshness.

Henriot Blanc de Blancs Souverain pairs particularly well with delicate and refined dishes. It is the perfect accompaniment to a lobster broth, enhancing its finesse and subtle briny notes with its velvety texture and precise minerality.

ROSES2025

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
