It's around 1750 that we can find in the archives traces of the Gimonnets as winegrowers in Champagne, where they deliver their harvest to the Champagne trade. From generation to generation, they passed on their love of the vine. It wasn't until 1935 that Pierre Gimonnet began its own winemaking business. Michel, Pierre's son, joined the business in 1955. His passion and pragmatism enabled him to be a pioneer in parcel-based vinification, giving each terroir the opportunity to fully express itself. Today, Olivier and Didier Gimonnet embody the third generation, worthy heirs to an exceptional savoir-faire.

A leading name in the Côte des Blancs, Pierre Gimonnet & Fils has embodied a precise and demanding vision of Champagne Chardonnay for generations. This cuvée is a blend of the oldest vines from the Pierre Gimonnet estate, from plots over forty years old, the two oldest of which were planted in 1911 and 1913. Most of the grapes come from the Grand Cru terroir of Cramant, from plots such as "Terres des Buissons," "Bauves," "Bateau," "Gros Mont," and "Champ du Prévot." The blend is completed with grapes from Chouilly, also a Grand Cru, and a touch of Cuis Premier Cru, which adds a touch of liveliness and flavor.
The color immediately seduces us with its bright, light gold hue. The nose opens with subtle notes of lemon zest, orange blossom, and fresh pear. Very quickly, a chalky dimension appears, accompanied by more mature touches of sweet almond, white peach, and a subtle pastry nuance. The palate offers a fine, silky expression of a very mature Chardonnay, but in a very mineral style. Its ripe notes of pear, guava, lime, and quince are kept in lively tension by a racy acidity. The balance is graceful and elegant, with minerality very present in a chalky, iodine-tinged finish.
Undoubtedly one of the finest versions of this Spécial Club cuvée, which is sure to delight enthusiasts.
