It's around 1750 that we can find in the archives traces of the Gimonnets as winegrowers in Champagne, where they deliver their harvest to the Champagne trade. From generation to generation, they passed on their love of the vine. It wasn't until 1935 that Pierre Gimonnet began its own winemaking business. Michel, Pierre's son, joined the business in 1955. His passion and pragmatism enabled him to be a pioneer in parcel-based vinification, giving each terroir the opportunity to fully express itself. Today, Olivier and Didier Gimonnet embody the third generation, worthy heirs to an exceptional savoir-faire.

Emblematic winemakers of the Côte des Blancs, Pierre Gimonnet & Fils perpetuate a philosophy centered on precision, purity, and the promotion of Chardonnay. Thanks to an exceptional heritage of old vines located in the finest crus, the house produces champagnes of crystalline elegance, where each cuvée faithfully reflects the identity of its terroir.
The Spécial Club Oger Grand Cru 2016 cuvée is vinified exclusively from grapes grown in the prestigious Grand Cru d'Oger. The 2016 vintage is marked by the unique power and minerality of this southern Côte des Blancs terroir, renowned for its distinctive "smokier" and "graphite" character compared to its neighboring terroirs. It stands out for its intense expression and increased complexity, making this cuvée a rare and sought-after wine.
In the glass, the wine displays a brilliant golden color. The expressive and indulgent nose reveals notes of candied citrus, white peach, and acacia. Slightly honeyed notes and a touch of marzipan follow shortly after. The chalky minerality is subtle but present, bringing a structuring sensation of freshness. On the palate, the attack is full and enveloping, marked by the natural richness of Chardonnay. The texture is silky, while retaining a precise liveliness. The flavors that unfold are dominated by ripe citrus, pear, and a subtle touch of saltiness. The balance of the 2016 vintage is revealed here with finesse: harmonious maturity and perfectly integrated tension.
The 2016 Spécial Club Oger stands out as a complete champagne, both generous and precise, brilliantly embodying the depth of this great terroir of the Côte des Blancs.
