Since its creation in 1951, Champagne Pertois-Moriset has been an independent, family-run producer. Harvesting-Handling, they vinify, champagnize and market only their own grapes.
Located in Mesnil-sur-Oger, a prestigious classified village Grand Cru of the Côte des blancs, this family-run Domaine seeks to exalt without make-up the minerality and typicity of their terroirs.
Their 20.70-hectare vineyard is divided as follows:
- 13.40 hectares in Côte des blancs, where the Chardonnay grape reigns supreme.
- 7.30 hectares in the Coteaux Sézannais, where the grape variety is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay.
This family-run house is a member of the prestigious Club Trésors de Champagne, a club founded in 1971 and made up of just 24 members, whose aim is to bring together artisan Champenois winemakers sensitive to the preservation of their terroir and know-how. This membership contributes to embellishing the flawless reputation of Pertois-Moriset and enhances their quest for excellence and respect for winegrowing tradition and terroir.
Produced from an exceptional terroir, Pertois-Moriset Chouilly 2018 is a 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, the result of a single harvest and artisanal expertise passed down through generations. This vintage embodies the quintessence of Chouilly, one of the most prestigious villages in the Côte des Blancs, renowned for its limestone soils and incomparable mineral expression.
This single-village cuvée, made from vines with an average age of 58 years, reflects respectful viticulture and masterful winemaking: 78% in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit, and 22% in barrels to add a touch of complexity and roundness. After 48 months of aging on lees, this Extra-Brut champagne (dosage 1.5 g/L) reveals rare tension and elegance, with an alcohol content of 12.5% vol.
Production is limited to 3,464 bottles and 171 magnums, underscoring the exclusive nature of this cuvée, where every detail counts: from natural winter grass cover to manual harvesting, to careful disgorging in April 2023.
Appearance: A golden, clear and brilliant color, reflecting the purity of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. The bubble stream is fine and persistent, a sign of fine craftsmanship.
On the nose: The bouquet is expressive and elegant, marked by aromas of ripe white fruits (pear, apple), notes of frangipane and fresh hazelnut, all enhanced by a subtle mineral touch, typical of the great terroirs of Chouilly. A beautiful complexity is also expressed through nuances of white flowers and candied citrus fruits.
Palate: The attack is fresh and lively, carried by a well-integrated acidity that brings a beautiful tension. The texture is both round and precise, with a beautiful length on the palate. The fruity and brioche aromas perceived on the nose are found again, accompanied by a mineral and saline finish, typical of the great wines of the Côte des Blancs. The balance between power and finesse is remarkable, with an aromatic persistence that invites tasting.
Food and champagne pairings: This champagne pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, noble fish (sea bass, John Dory), or soft cheeses such as Brie de Meaux. It can also accompany more daring dishes, such as poultry in a creamy sauce or sushi.
