The Maison Cazals was founded in 1897 in Mesnil-sur-Oger by Ernest Cazals, a renowned cooper originally from the Hérault region of France who had married a Champagne woman.
Three generations have since succeeded one another at the head of the estate, and today DelpHine Cazals manages it with the same passion and enthusiasm to continually highlight this great terroir of Côte des blancs.
Delphine Cazals has run the company since the death of his father in 1996. The entire Cazals vineyard comprises 9 hectares of vines spread over 4 communes: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus and Villeneuve. One part is therefore classified as Grand Cru and the other as Premier Cru. All vines are planted with Chardonnay to create cuvées with their own identity, full of finesse and aromatic power. The oceanic climate with continental influences is conducive to its development.
One of Maison Cazals' assets is an exceptional parcel of land classified as Grand Cru in a delimited area: Le Clos Cazals, covering 3.70 hectares of old vines in the village of Oger.
Maison Claude Cazals offers splendidly fresh, irresistible cuvées.
The Cuvée Carte d'Or perfectly reflects the house style: balance, minerality and floral, brioche aromas.... See more ...
Cuvée Vive expresses the freshness and purity of Chardonnay at its most elegant. Representative of the Cazals house style, it is very lightly dosed in order to bring out all the finesse of the grape variety.
Made exclusively from Grands Crus from Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger, this Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut reveals all the nobility of the chalky soils of the Côte des Blancs. Aged for over six years on lees, it offers remarkable finesse and beautiful aromatic depth.
In the glass, it displays a pale gold, almost silvery color, traversed by fine, regular bubbles. On the nose, it expresses notes of fresh citrus, white flowers, and a hint of minerality reminiscent of chalk and wet stone. With aeration, nuances of light brioche and fresh hazelnut appear. On the palate, the texture is lively and taut, with crystalline precision. The attack is frank, the mid-palate salty and lemony, and the finish stretches out with a beautiful zesty bitterness and a hint of brioche.
A lively and refined champagne, perfect for lovers of mineral styles. It will pair wonderfully with an elegant aperitif, seafood, or sea bass carpaccio with citrus fruits.
