The Bonnaire house was founded in 1932 on one of the finest crus of the Champagne, the village of Cramant north of the Côte des blancs.
A family-run, independent firm specializing in Champagnes Blanc de blancs whose great finesse helped build its reputation, today it reigns over a 22-hectare vineyard classified as Grand Cru.
It was in 1932 that Fernand Bouquement founded his own house of Champagne. In the aftermath of the SecWorld War II, he was joined by his son-in-law André Bonnaire, who proved to be particularly passionate about vine growing and paid a great deal of attention to it. His son Jean-Louis took over and made Maison Bonnaire one of the most renowned in the Côte des blancs region. A particularly talented winemaker, he spent the last years of his life sharing his passion with his two sons, Jean-Etienne and Jean-Emmanuel, who today represent the fourth generation. Faithful to their father's memory and philosophy, they continue to produce chiseled Champagnes of great freshness and energy.
To date, the Bonnaire family is one of the largest owners of vineyards classified as Grand Cru in the village of Cramant, with 22 hectares planted mainly with Chardonnay, as well as Pinot Noir... See more ...
An exceptional champagne, reflecting a prestigious terroir
Crafted from a rigorous selection of the finest plots in Cramant, ideally situated midway up the hillside, this champagne embodies all the power and elegance of this exceptional terroir. The Blanc de Blancs 2017 (100% Chardonnay) is an iconic cuvée of the estate, the result of a unique vintage and meticulous craftsmanship.
From the Cramant terroir (Grand Cru) – A village located north of the Côte des Blancs, famous for its wines that combine aromatic power and minerality. The selected plots—Les Terres des Buissons, Le Bateau, Les Bionnes, Les Bourons, Les Longues Verges, and Les Gouttes d’Or—offer complementary exposures on limestone soils, ensuring a refined and complex expression of the terroir.
2016 Vintage
The harvest, carried out in late September, was characterized by slow ripening and high acidity, offering a perfect balance between freshness and aging potential. This vintage reveals the full complexity of Cramant’s Chardonnay, with an elegant structure and distinctive minerality.
On the palate, this champagne captivates with its slightly buttery notes, aromas of candied fruit, and citrus zest. The attack is clean and precise, evolving into a rich, creamy texture, before finishing with a salty, lingering aftertaste—the signature hallmark of Cramant’s great wines.
A champagne with aging potential, to be enjoyed today or saved for special occasions.
Think outside the box with a bold pairing: gnocchi with sage butter and toasted hazelnut pieces, a sea bass ceviche garnished with pomegranate and yuzu, or fresh goat cheese rolled in citrus zest.
