Bollinger

In the heart of the village of Aÿ, the House Bollinger enjoys a universal prestige that is no longer to be proven, always in search of excellence. Proof of this is the fact that on the one hand, Bollinger is one of the Rares to own and produce their own grapes for the production of their vintages, but that it is also the only one to still have a cooper in residence.

The latter maintains the 3500 barrels, some of which are over 100 years old, day after day. A centuries-old know-how that the House Bollinger is committed to perpetuate.

What is the history of the House of Champagne Bollinger?

The men behind Bollinger

The origin of the House Bollinger is intimately linked to Athanase de Villermont (born in Cuis in 1763 and died in Aÿ in 1840), an admiral in the French army who distinguished himself in the American War of Independence and in particular at the Battle of the Chesapeake on April 29, 1781. A few years later, he inherited a vast Domaine family estate in the vicinity of Aÿ, a terroir renowned for the quality of its wines, which were not officially named "Champagne" until the creation of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in 1936.

However, the conveniences of his aristocratic origins did not allow him to indulge in a commercial activity, which is why he associated himself in 1829 with Joseph Bollinger (known as Jacques Joseph Bollinger) and Paul Renaudin. He created a... See more ...

Description Bollinger PN TX 20.

With cuvée PN TX20, Bollinger marks a new exploration of Pinot Noir through the prism of its principal cru: Tauxières. This 100% Pinot Noir, based on the 2020 harvest and enriched with Réserve wines from remarkable vintages such as 2008 and 2012 (over 25% of the blend), embodies a subtle and precise interpretation of the House's king grape variety.

The chalky-clay terroir of Tauxières, located on the south-western slopes of Montagne de Reims, imbues the wine with remarkable mineral tension and finesse of expression. Moderate dosage (8 g/L) and cellar maturation well beyond the appellation's requirements further underline the Bollinger hallmark: depth, vinosity and precision.

To the eye, La robe's golden-yellow color reflects controlled ripeness. The nose opens with fresh citrus and white fruits (peach, quince), enriched by mineral touches reminiscent of flint. On the palate, the wine unfolds a full texture, carried by nuances of stewed fruit and a long finish, balanced between energy and elegance.

PN TX20 is a cuvée with character, designed for enlightened wine lovers in search of parcel diversity and aromatic verticality. To be enjoyed between 10 and 11°C, now or after a few years' cellaring, to appreciate its full dimension. An uncompromising signature of style Bollinger.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
