Champagne Henriot

Maison Henriot ranks among the most illustrious names in Champagne, driven by a family-owned independence that has been preserved for over two centuries. Guided by a constant quest for precision and elegance, the House cultivates an exceptional vineyard, drawing its strength from the finest terroirs of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Heir to a unique expertise, Maison Henriot is dedicated to enhancing the finesse of Chardonnay, the hallmark of its inimitable style.

Maison Henriot: An Inspired Legacy

It all began in 1808, when Apolline Henriot, a young widow and descendant of a family with deep roots in winemaking, decided to found her own Champagne house in Reims. Drawing on the scientific legacy of her great-uncle, Canon Godinot—author of a seminal treatise on viticulture published as early as 1718—Apolline infused the House with an innovative vision. Determined to “illuminate her lands by creating a great Champagne,” she laid the groundwork for a house that, from its very inception, has prioritized high standards and passion.

Over the generations, the Henriot family has enriched this legacy. In 1880, the marriage of Paul Henriot to Marie Marguet, a native of the Côte des Blancs, marked a historic turning point: the vineyard expanded to include prestigious Chardonnay crus, adding a new dimension to the blends. Resolutely forward-thinking, the family has always placed an understanding of the soil at the heart of its concerns, launching an ambitious project of soil pits as early as 1920. This culture of observation continues today under the leadership of Alice Tétienne, Cellar Master, through the “Alliance Terroirs”... See more ...

Description Henriot Cuvée Hemera 2008.

Henriot Hemera 2008 pays tribute to the six historic grand crus that have shaped the House’s identity since its founding. This prestigious cuvée draws its origins from the founding terroirs acquired throughout the family’s history: Verzy, Verzenay, and Mailly-Champagne in the Montagne de Reims, later joined by Avize, Chouilly, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs following the marriage of Paul Henriot and Marie Marguet in the 19th century. Produced only in years deemed exceptional, Hemera is based on a vintage blend combining equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, sourced exclusively from these six Grands Crus. Each terroir brings its own personality: structure and depth from the Pinots of the Montagne de Reims, and tension and mineral brilliance from the Chardonnays of the Côte des Blancs.

The 2008 vintage is considered one of the greatest contemporary classics in Champagne. After a year marked by cool and unstable weather, the return of sunshine as harvest approached allowed for remarkable ripeness while preserving exceptional acidity. These conditions gave rise to wines of remarkable precision and longevity.

On the palate, the wine displays a brilliant light gold hue, with fine, delicate effervescence that is highly elegant. The nose opens gradually with great restraint and distinction. Subtle toasted and slightly woody notes come to the fore, quickly joined by aromas of ripe citrus, white fruit, dried flowers, and damp chalk. With aeration, the bouquet gains depth and reveals more complex nuances of hazelnut, brioche, and salty minerality. On the palate, the wine impresses with its almost architectural precision. The attack is lively, taut, and luminous, carried by a remarkable freshness that runs throughout the tasting. The texture masterfully combines finesse and power: flavors of citrus, white-fleshed fruits, and slightly toasted notes unfold within a finely crafted structure, supported by a very pure mineral backbone. The long, salty, and vibrant finish leaves an impression of remarkable purity and signals exceptional aging potential.

After more than twelve years of aging in the cellar and a very measured dosage of 5 g/L, Hemera 2008 now reveals the full depth and complexity of its structure. The wine possesses a sense of balance and delicacy reminiscent of lace. Despite its intensity, the wine retains an elegant restraint that further enhances its distinguished character.

Served between 9 and 12°C, Henriot Hemera 2008 is the perfect accompaniment to refined cuisine featuring shellfish, fine fish, or delicate dishes made with white truffles or caviar.

ROSES2025

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
