Maison Henriot ranks among the most illustrious names in Champagne, driven by a family-owned independence that has been preserved for over two centuries. Guided by a constant quest for precision and elegance, the House cultivates an exceptional vineyard, drawing its strength from the finest terroirs of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Heir to a unique expertise, Maison Henriot is dedicated to enhancing the finesse of Chardonnay, the hallmark of its inimitable style.
It all began in 1808, when Apolline Henriot, a young widow and descendant of a family with deep roots in winemaking, decided to found her own Champagne house in Reims. Drawing on the scientific legacy of her great-uncle, Canon Godinot—author of a seminal treatise on viticulture published as early as 1718—Apolline infused the House with an innovative vision. Determined to “illuminate her lands by creating a great Champagne,” she laid the groundwork for a house that, from its very inception, has prioritized high standards and passion.
Over the generations, the Henriot family has enriched this legacy. In 1880, the marriage of Paul Henriot to Marie Marguet, a native of the Côte des Blancs, marked a historic turning point: the vineyard expanded to include prestigious Chardonnay crus, adding a new dimension to the blends. Resolutely forward-thinking, the family has always placed an understanding of the soil at the heart of its concerns, launching an ambitious project of soil pits as early as 1920. This culture of observation continues today under the leadership of Alice Tétienne, Cellar Master, through the “Alliance Terroirs”... See more ...
Introduced into the permanent collection of Maison Henriot in the early 1980s, under the leadership of the seventh generation of the family, Henriot Rosé perfectly embodies the house’s vision: a focus on elegance, precision, and the subtle art of blending. This multi-vintage cuvée is conceived as an ongoing quest for balance between freshness, minerality, and aromatic delicacy. True to the Henriot style, this rosé combines the three great Champagne grape varieties—Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier—in a blend that is renewed each year to preserve the wine’s identity while adapting to the characteristics of each harvest. One essential element contributes to its uniqueness: the addition of a red wine made from a vineyard located in the heart of the prestigious Aÿ cru. Produced through maceration of the skins and pulp, this wine typically accounts for between 8 and 10% of the blend and imparts to the champagne its fruity depth as well as its refined rosé hue. After blending, the bottles age for at least three years in the house’s historic cellars in Reims, protected from light and under ideal conditions that allow the wine to develop its full complexity.
The color is distinguished by an elegant, luminous rosé hue, enlivened by fine, consistent effervescence. The nose immediately reveals a fresh, precise, and delicately chiseled style. The house’s signature minerality appears from the very first moments, accompanied by discreet and refined fruity notes evoking white currant, fresh red berries, and a few delicate floral nuances. The overall impression remains restrained and elegant, far removed from the more flamboyant styles of rosé. On the palate, the wine extends this sensation of purity and freshness. The texture, taut and chalky, brings a great deal of energy to the whole. Flavors of fresh red berries and delicate citrus blend into a very crisp, almost briny structure, carried by a lively and perfectly controlled acidity. This tension gives the champagne a particularly appealing sense of precision and dynamism. The finish, long and airy, leaves a fresh, mineral, and very elegant sensation.
Henriot Rosé is the perfect accompaniment to refined and delicate dishes. It pairs particularly well with a scallop carpaccio with mango, highlighting both its briny notes and fruity sweetness. Its freshness and finesse also make it a wonderful match for light cuisine featuring shellfish, raw fish, or citrus-based dishes.
