In a title deed from the Abbey of Citeaux dated February 1365, the name "Cloux des Lambrey" appears for the first time, a spelling which disappeared over time and which today is written "Clos des Lambrays". On a milestone in the wall of sealed Clos des Lambrays appears this same date as a reminder to visitors in homage to time.
Le Clos des Lambrays is located at Morey-Saint-Denis on the prestigious Côte des Nuits. The village of Morey-Saint-Denis has the highest proportion of Grands Crus.
The Clos, one of the Rares and most prestigious Clos de Bourgogne is surrounded by walls and is situated on a gentle ridge on which lies the vineyard of Clos des Lambrays whose oldest vines are over 60 years old. The Clos des Lambrays is planted with Pinot Noir on a very small area of around 8 hectares, a very Rare but sublime production.
The Clos des Lambrays house also produces a Puligny-Montrachet and Clos du Cailleret les Folatieres both in Premier Cru.
The Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru 2022 is the ultimate expression of Domaine des Lambrays expertise. Born of a year marked by an early spring and a summer Sec, this Grand Cru benefited from optimal conditions to produce grapes of exceptional quality. The harvest, from September 1 to 5, produced a modest yield of 30 hl/ha, ensuring maximum concentration of aromas.
Vinification, which took place over a three-week period, was carried out with 80% whole grapes, favoring a bright, fruity structure and exceptional aromatic complexity. Using indigenous yeasts and a gravity-fed process, Clos des Lambrays 2022 was then aged for 19 months in oak barrels, 20% of which were new, giving this wine remarkable structure and depth.
On the nose, this Grand Cru is fragrant and expressive, revealing intense, complex aromas. The palate is rich, full-bodied and silky, with a perfect balance between power and finesse. To take full advantage of its qualities, we recommend opening it three hours before drinking, and serving it at a temperature of between 16 and 17°C. With its refined style and long aftertaste, Le Clos des Lambrays 2022 will appeal to lovers of great Bourgogne wines.
