Founded in 1804, the estate was rebuilt and operated at the end of the XIXᵉ century by Hippolyte Painturaud, after the great phylloxera crisis. In 1934, Jacques-Guy Painturaud decided to market his Cognacs and Pineaux des Charentes under his own name, thus distinguishing himself from the major trading houses. Maison Painturaud Frères was born.
Since then, four generations have perpetuated this exceptional know-how. In 2010, Jean-Philippe, Vincent, Matthieu and Emmanuel took over the management of Domaine, passionately pursuing the production of authentic, refined and traditional Cognacs and pineaux.
Located in the heart of Grande Champagne, 1er Cru de l'appellation Cognac, the 40-hectare vineyard lies on an exceptional terroir. Its clay-limestone slopes give the eaux-de-vie an incomparable finesse, enabling them to age for decades in oak barrels. Concerned about pRéserver its environment, Maison Painturaud Frères has been practicing integrated viticulture for over 20 years, and in 2017 was awarded level 3 Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification, the highest distinction in the field.
Mastering every stage in the elaboration of its Cognacs, the House owns its own still and ages its eaux-de-vie in its cellars for 5 years, 10 years... even 80 years and more. Then comes the art of blending, where expertise handed down from generation to generation achieves perfect harmony. Each bottle embodies the soul of a unique terroir and the fruit of meticulous craftsmanship, offering connoisseurs an unforgettable Rare experience.
In 2024, Painturaud Frères celebrates its 90th anniversary with an exceptional limited edition: Cognac "QU4TRE". Founded in 1934 by Guy Painturaud in Segonzac, in the heart of the Grande Champagne, this emblematic house offers us here a unique blend, marking the passage to a new decade.
"QU4TRE" is the fruit of the expertise of four generations of the Painturaud family. Emmanuel, representing the fourth generation, has carefully selected exceptional eaux-de-vie from the house's old vintages. These Cognacs, from each generation, have been blended according to the know-how handed down by his father Jacques, with the complicity of his brothers, all expert tasters.
This Cognac is distinguished by its intense, brilliant amber color. On the nose, it reveals a complex elegance, blending notes of apricot Sec and dried fig, subtly enriched with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Round and powerful on the palate, with woody, spicy and slightly peppery notes. The long, persistent finish evolves into aromas of candied orange and eXOtic fruits.
The Painturaud Frères house, true to its values of know-how, transmission and respect for the environment, offers us here a Cognac of Rare elegance, from the unique terroir of the Grande Champagne. Aged from 30 to 100 years in French oak barrels, this Cognac made from Ugni-blanc grapes at 44.5% vol. is a veritable ode to excellence and tradition.
A must-have for lovers and connoisseurs of Cognac, "QU4TRE" embodies the heritage and innovation of an exceptional house.
