House Prunier is located in Cognac with 250 years of history spanning more than two centuries. Since 1769, House Prunier has been making its mark alongside the great names of Cognac.
The first traces of the Prunier family date back to 1701, but it wasn't until 1769 that bottling and export activities really got underway at Cognac, as the old labels on Prunier bottles testify.
Across the ages, the 1850 building has seen each generation grow up. The walls, like photographs, carry the family memory. Even today, this building is the soul of Maison Prunier.
The Cognac Prunier X.O. Extra OLD is the result of a blend of carefully selected eaux-de-vie from the crus of Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois and Bons Bois, aged individually for 15 to 30 years in 200 and 400-liter oak barrels.
To the eye, this Cognac is distinguished by its golden color and brilliant robe with bronze and golden highlights. On the nose, the bouquet is intense and complex, revealing a fine rancio enhanced by notes of fruit Secs, nutmeg, tobacco, wax, orange and licorice.
On the palate, the attack is both complex and supple, echoing the nose. The length on the palate is superb, combining a delicate rancio with present but very fine tannins. This Cognac gradually reveals its aromas over the course of the tasting, testifying to its sophistication.
The ugni blanc grape variety is grown exclusively on clay-limestone and sandy soils, contributing to its complexity and depth. The Gimeux cellars, benefiting from the natural hygrometry provided by the adjacent river, offer ideal conditions for ageing this exceptional eau-de-vie.
This Cognac goes perfectly with chocolate desserts or red fruit tarts, which bring out its complex, fresh, fruity aromas.
