Located in Eraville, on the border between Grande and Petite Champagne, the house of Cognac Jean-Luc Pasquet traces its origins back to 1730.
The domain was passed down from generation to generation until Jean-Luc Pasquet inherited the property in 1970. It was only in 1977 that Jean-Luc Pasquet began bottling its production.
The 14-hectare vineyard today is farmed organically - certified since 1998 - and planted with grape varieties from the Cognac region. This vineyard also has a few vines of Folle Blanche, the king grape of the Cognac region before the phylloxera crisis at the end of the 19th century. At the time, this very fragile grape gave rise to eaux-de-vie of incomparable finesse and richness, both olfactory and gustatory.
The house raises several qualities of Cognacs of different ages under labels specific to each quality. To ensure the continuity of its range of Cognacs over 20 years old at a time when its stock of old Cognacs is running out, Maison Pasquet goes out to meet the "bouilleurs de crus" (distillers) who keep hidden treasures in the privacy of their cellars. It selects a single cask and finishes working it to bring it to its ideal tasting level. Each bottle bears the producer's first name and is produced in a limited, numbered series.
Ever since he took over the family Cognac business from his father, who lends his name to this cuvée, Jean Pasquet has never ceased to carry on the family legacy, enhancing the organic methods introduced by his parents at Eraville, in Grande Champagne. This Cognac, distilled in 1988, is produced exclusively from their own ugni blanc vines. After traditional distillation and prolonged aging, without filtering or adding color, this Cognac reveals an elegant amber color and offers a complex bouquet where notes of plum, honey, leather and fruit Secs intertwine, complemented by touches of tobacco and spices such as licorice and gingerbread. Accents of coffee and dark chocolate complete the palette. On the palate, flavors of honey and spice persist, enhanced by ripe fruit, in a perfect harmony that culminates in a long, rich finish, typical of the region's great eaux-de-vie. This Cognac is part of the "Esprit de Famille" collection, highly appreciated for its purity and precision.
