Located in Eraville, on the border between Grande and Petite Champagne, the house of Cognac Jean-Luc Pasquet traces its origins back to 1730.
The domain was passed down from generation to generation until Jean-Luc Pasquet inherited the property in 1970. It was only in 1977 that Jean-Luc Pasquet began bottling its production.
The 14-hectare vineyard today is farmed organically - certified since 1998 - and planted with grape varieties from the Cognac region. This vineyard also has a few vines of Folle Blanche, the king grape of the Cognac region before the phylloxera crisis at the end of the 19th century. At the time, this very fragile grape gave rise to eaux-de-vie of incomparable finesse and richness, both olfactory and gustatory.
The house raises several qualities of Cognacs of different ages under labels specific to each quality. To ensure the continuity of its range of Cognacs over 20 years old at a time when its stock of old Cognacs is running out, Maison Pasquet goes out to meet the "bouilleurs de crus" (distillers) who keep hidden treasures in the privacy of their cellars. It selects a single cask and finishes working it to bring it to its ideal tasting level. Each bottle bears the producer's first name and is produced in a limited, numbered series.
Distilled in the 90s by Jean Luc Pasquet, founder of the eponymous Cognac house and fervent advocate of organic viticulture in the prestigious Grande Champagne region, this Cognac is a true family treasure. Produced on the family's Domaine in Eraville, where the soils are ideal for growing the ugni blanc grape variety, it expresses all the richness of its unique terroir. The blend of two of Jean Luc's last barrels, meticulously selected by his son, Jean, offers an unfiltered, uncolored nectar, which boasts an elegant amber color with golden highlights, a testament to its maturity and careful ageing. The nose offers a rich bouquet dominated by aromas of pear and very ripe apple. These initial notes are quickly complemented by eXOtic touches reminiscent of late harvest, with hints of tropical fruit gradually revealing themselves. On the palate, this Cognac surprises with flavors of banana and mango, balanced by touches of licorice and rose. The finish is impressively long, carrying persistent notes of ripe fruit that linger, inviting reflection and prolonged tasting.
