Martell: The oldest of the important Cognac houses was founded in 1715 by Jean Martell, a native of the island of Jersey who was barely 20 years old at the time and attracted by the already worldwide reputation of Charente eaux-de-vie.
Today, Martell is the world's 2nd largest brand of Cognac. Master of all its production, from distillation to bottling, blending and ageing, it has chosen to produce Cognacs from the region's 4 main appellations and to give pride of place to Borderies, 3rd cru in the Cognac hierarchy, renowned for its elegance.
This know-how, combined with the oak barrels in which they age for many years, gives rise to Cognacs of extreme finesse, floral and fragrant, preciously preserved in bottles with very elegant lines that make them the jewels of Cognac.
The Martell Cordon Bleu Extra embodies a bold, refined reinterpretation of the famous Cordon Bleu, offering a sublimated sensory experience.
At first glance, La robe amber, with mahogany highlights, evokes remarkable depth and maturity. It testifies to Maison Martell's expertise in mastering aged eaux-de-vie, mainly from the Borderies region.
The nose is rich and complex, with bewitching notes of candied fruit - apricot and Sec grapes to the fore - and a touch of sweet spices such as cinnamon. This aromatic signature is perfectly balanced by nuances of walnut and fresh almond, offering an aromatic sophistication that intrigues and invites tasting.
On the palate, Martell Cordon Bleu Extra reveals silky roundness and exceptional balance. Flavors of tarte Tatin, sublimated by accents of candied orange peel, blossom into a soft, enveloping texture. The long, lingering finish leaves a delicately spicy, fruity imprint, confirming the rich, generous profile of this Cognac.
The *Martell Cordon Bleu Extra* succeeds in the ambitious challenge of revisiting a classic while preserving the DNA of the House Martell. This rich, fragrant cuvée is aimed at connoisseurs and collectors in search of an exceptional Cognac. It is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, for a tasting that reveals all the complexity and elegance of its blend.
