Located in Eraville, on the border between Grande and Petite Champagne, the house of Cognac Jean-Luc Pasquet traces its origins back to 1730.
The domain was passed down from generation to generation until Jean-Luc Pasquet inherited the property in 1970. It was only in 1977 that Jean-Luc Pasquet began bottling its production.
The 14-hectare vineyard today is farmed organically - certified since 1998 - and planted with grape varieties from the Cognac region. This vineyard also has a few vines of Folle Blanche, the king grape of the Cognac region before the phylloxera crisis at the end of the 19th century. At the time, this very fragile grape gave rise to eaux-de-vie of incomparable finesse and richness, both olfactory and gustatory.
The house raises several qualities of Cognacs of different ages under labels specific to each quality. To ensure the continuity of its range of Cognacs over 20 years old at a time when its stock of old Cognacs is running out, Maison Pasquet goes out to meet the "bouilleurs de crus" (distillers) who keep hidden treasures in the privacy of their cellars. It selects a single cask and finishes working it to bring it to its ideal tasting level. Each bottle bears the producer's first name and is produced in a limited, numbered series.
The Cognac L'Organic Folle Blanche L.XIV is a Rareté signed Jean-Luc Pasquet, made exclusively from the Folle Blanche grape variety, emblematic of the 19th century but now almost extinct. Grown in Grande Champagne, on an exceptional terroir, this Cognac is the fruit of the 2014 vintage, distilled on lees with indigenous yeasts, then aged for 10 years in casks. Production remains confidential, with only three barrels per year.
On the nose, this Cognac seduces with an elegant palette: white flowers, juicy pear, ripe peach, underlined by a hint of honey and pastry.
The palate is both energetic and silky, with great precision despite its 48.6% vol., offering a remarkable balance between freshness, creaminess and minerality. The long, persistent finish continues with sweet spices and a refined floral structure.
Unfiltered, additive-free and certified organic, L.XIV is the pure expression of a forgotten grape variety and a know-how that respects the living. Presented in a sleek bottle with a sober case, it is aimed at enlightened wine lovers in search of singularity.
Enjoy it neat, at room temperature or slightly chilled, to explore its full complexity.
