The Domaine Agrapart is located in Avize and its 12 ha vineyard is mostly spread over Avize, Oger, Cramant, and Oiry Grands Crus de la Côte des blancs.
The chalky soil, specific to Côte des blancs, enables the Chardonnay grape variety to be worked, especially known for bringing freshness, elegance and finesse to the wine.
Composed of 50 plots, some of which are over 65 years old, the average age of the vineyard is around 40 years. Pascal Agrapart favors the use of traditional methods of cultivation and vinification, and has decided to "parcelize" his cuvées since 1995, selecting three families of soils: one with superficial clay soils, another limestone, the last clay-limestone, all three sitting on the chalky base of Côte des blancs.
Pascal likes to recall: "My father used to tell me: 'You work your vineyard like a garden'."
The Agrapart wine estate, established in Avize since the late 19th century, is one of the iconic wine estates of the Côte des Blancs. Now run by Pascal and Fabien Agrapart, it embodies an artisanal style that is sincere and deeply attached to the expression of the terroir. The vines, almost exclusively located in Grands Crus, are cultivated with meticulous care and each plot is vinified separately to reveal its uniqueness. In the cellar, fermentation takes place using indigenous yeasts. The wines are neither fined nor filtered and the dosage is relatively low.
The Complantée d'Agrapart cuvée is one of the wine estate's most original and emblematic expressions. Produced from a single plot in Avize planted with a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Blanc, Arbane, and Petit Meslier, it pays homage to the ancient traditions of Champagne.
In the glass, the color is a luminous light gold with slightly green highlights and delicate bubbles. The nose opens with a bouquet of great aromatic complexity, blending white and yellow fruits such as pear, apple, and mirabelle plum with notes of red berries, citrus zest, and sweet spices. With aeration, delicate herbaceous nuances and subtle notes of white flowers appear. On the palate, the attack is precise, straightforward, and vibrant. The body is slender, supported by a lively acidity that brings energy and freshness. The aromas blend harmoniously: crisp white fruits, lemon zest, hints of red berries, fresh almonds and a marked salinity that is characteristic of the chalky terroir of Avize. The finish is long, chiseled and persistent, with citrus notes.
Agrapart Complantée is characterized by its unique character, purity of expression, and singular interpretation of the Champagne terroir: a lively, precise, and deeply authentic champagne.
