The Bonnaire house was founded in 1932 on one of the finest crus of the Champagne, the village of Cramant north of the Côte des blancs.
A family-run, independent firm specializing in Champagnes Blanc de blancs whose great finesse helped build its reputation, today it reigns over a 22-hectare vineyard classified as Grand Cru.
It was in 1932 that Fernand Bouquement founded his own house of Champagne. In the aftermath of the SecWorld War II, he was joined by his son-in-law André Bonnaire, who proved to be particularly passionate about vine growing and paid a great deal of attention to it. His son Jean-Louis took over and made Maison Bonnaire one of the most renowned in the Côte des blancs region. A particularly talented winemaker, he spent the last years of his life sharing his passion with his two sons, Jean-Etienne and Jean-Emmanuel, who today represent the fourth generation. Exclusively sourced from the great chalky terroirs of Cramant, Chouilly, and Oiry, this 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru perfectly illustrates the purity and tension characteristic of the Côte des Blancs. This blend of several vintages contains 15% reserve wines.
In the glass, it quickly seduces us with its crystal clarity, a very pale gold color with greenish highlights, a sign of great freshness. On the nose, the expression is refined and airy, carried by notes of white flowers and fresh citrus, enhanced by a touch of menthol. The whole oscillates between floral delicacy and mineral liveliness. On the palate, the attack is straightforward and precise. The finely creamy texture blends with a mineral structure reminiscent of the limestone subsoil of the grands crus from which it originates. Citrus zest dominates before giving way, on the finish, to more indulgent nuances of light brioche and sweet licorice.
A sincere and vibrant terroir Champagne, perfect as an aperitif or with fish tartare.
To be enjoyed as an appetizer with seafood or plancha-style grilled fish such as sea bass, red mullet or salmon.
