Since the 17th century, Sociando-Mallet has occupied the Baleyron hillock, one of the finest gravel terroirs in the Médoc.
Located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, north of Pauillac, its vineyard overlooks the Gironde estuary, nestled in the hollow of the curve the river draws there.
The Sociando-Mallet terroir is made up of gravel from the Guntzian era, on a deep clay-limestone subsoil.
It enables the Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen in excellent conditions and the Merlot to acquire depth and complexity, while perfectly regulating the vine's water supply.
This terroir is the soul of Sociando wines, which owe their complex structure, freshness and elegance to it.
Vineyard size: 77 hectares in production
Varietal grape varieties: 55% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc.
The color is a beautiful deep ruby with brick-red highlights. On the nose, the wine offers aromas of ripe black fruits: blackcurrant and plum, accompanied by hints of cedar, tobacco, and undergrowth. On the palate, the attack is round and full-bodied. The tannins are mellow but still present, providing structure and balance. The black fruit flavors mingle with toasted and slightly spicy notes, with a long and harmonious finish.
