Since the 17th century, Sociando-Mallet has occupied the Baleyron hillock, one of the finest gravel terroirs in the Médoc.
Located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, north of Pauillac, its vineyard overlooks the Gironde estuary, nestled in the hollow of the curve the river draws there.
The Sociando-Mallet terroir is made up of gravel from the Guntzian era, on a deep clay-limestone subsoil.
It enables the Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen in excellent conditions and the Merlot to acquire depth and complexity, while perfectly regulating the vine's water supply.
This terroir is the soul of Sociando wines, which owe their complex structure, freshness and elegance to it.
Vineyard size: 77 hectares in production
Varietal grape varieties: 55% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc.
The wine has a deep ruby color with purple highlights. On the nose, the wine expresses nuances of black fruits accompanied by subtle woody notes of cedar and sweet spices. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and velvety. The tannins are firm but well integrated, providing structure and balance. The flavors of ripe fruit linger with toasty and spicy notes. The finish is long and elegant.
