Domaine Guado al Tasso is located southwest of Florence, in the small but prestigious Bolgheri appellation. Although its history is relatively short, this appellation was recognized in 1994 and enjoys a fine reputation on the international wine scene.
Vines were first cultivated here in the 17th century by the Della Gherardesca family. It wasn't until 1930 that the Antinori family inherited Domaine. Their ambition was to make it one of Tuscany's most prestigious Domaines.
Today, covering more than 300 hectares, Tenuta Guado al Tasso is renowned for its exceptional red wines of incomparable character. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Syrah, they express all the richness and elegance of the Bolgheri terroir. The vineyards' proximity to the sea provides them with a mild climate, where constant breezes mitigate hot summers and cold winters. The sandy-clay, silty-clay and alluvial soils allow the grape varieties to express themselves fully. Thanks to winemaking that combines tradition and innovation, Tenuta Guado al Tasso embodies the excellence of Bolgheri wines and is one of Tuscany's unmissable references.
Tasting notes:
This cuvée, created in 2002, is the counterpart of the great Guado Al Tasso wine in a modern, more accessible style in its youth. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grapes come from a wide variety of geological soils and express great complexity. Il Bruciato 2021 has a relatively intense ruby color. The nose is rich and complex, with notes of red fruits, sweet spices and light tobacco. It also reveals hints of vanilla due to barrel ageing. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with splendidly integrated silky tannins. The depth of the aromatic palette gradually reveals itself, giving the wine a beautiful harmony. The lingering finish leaves a fruity aftertaste.
