Domaine Pèppoli is located in the heart of Tuscany, in the Chianti Classico appellation, not far from the famous Domaine Tignanello. Acquired by the Antinori family in 1985, it extends over some 50 hectares, the majority of which are dedicated to the cultivation of Sangiovese, the region's king grape variety.
Despite its unusual east-north-east exposure, the vineyard enjoys an ideal microclimate thanks to the surrounding hills. The stony, mineral-rich soil allows Sangioevese to express its unique character. To produce great wines, Domaine also grows a little merlot, syrah and malvasia. In the cellar, the wines are aged in Slavonian oak barrels, allowing them to express their full potential and unique character.
In addition to wine, Domaine also owns a few hectares of olive groves, some of which are centuries old, to produce high-quality Extra-virgin olive oils. Thanks to their "Pèpolli" cuvée, which they process, they also produce eponymous red wine vinegars.
Tasting notes:
A blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah, Cuvée Pèppoli is renowned for its fruity expression, typical of the appellation. Adorned with a splendid garnet-red color and intense reflections, it expresses delicate aromas of morello cherry, cherry and violet on the nose. Spicy nuances of black pepper and a subtle touch of vanilla complete this seductive bouquet. The attack on the palate is fruity, revealing the beautiful acidity characteristic of Sangiovese. The silky-textured tannins provide good substance to accompany aromas of blackcurrant and red fruit. The long, harmonious finish leaves a pleasant lingering aftertaste.
